I did a double-take when I saw the Reason 9.5 splash page on the Props site...cause it's my monitor set-up too!
A pair of Yamaha NS-10M's...and the *mighty* Yamaha NS-1000M's.
the studio pix are old...but I still have my speakers.
cheers,
Nick

A note about the NS-1000M's: obviously, they're technically mid-field and not near-field monitors. (But with wife and kids, volume was an issue.)millionVALVE wrote: ↑05 Sep 2017

I used them near and flipped sideways under the advice of a career producer I knew, and he gave me useful distance-to-ear measurements and angles.
Plus he had me orient them horizontally so any up-and-down head bobbing (more frequent than side-to-side movement) at my desk wouldn't have my ears changing which driver's "zones" they were directly in line with.

Daaamn now that's keeping it real! I haven't posted my picture of my laptop at the kitchen bar because I'm embarrassed of all these beer bottles and dirty dishes in the sink! You're doing better than me!

This is my setup until the new room gets completed. Pictured below: Ensoniq ASR 10, Technics SL 1200 MK5, JBL LSR305's, a frosty Guinness Stout, Focusrite Saffire Pro 24, and M-Audio Axiom 2nd Gen. Reason 8 with a ton of RE's and refills. A lot of gear couldn't make it in the picture, this is kind of a temporary set up. I'll post new pics when the room is finished!

Hacked an ikea stool to make a stand for my P1 today. Turned out quite well...
Used long drawer handles to attach the 2 legs together.
Based off this hack for a stand. Can use the rest of the stool for this

$16.99 at Ikea. Thanks for the Heads up. I'm gonna make one. The Lamp is very cool.
I like the Angling but, it's not good in situations where one needs to 'stack.'
- I'm Running out of table top space, but I got a reprieve:
Clear risers from the Container Store. Dim: 21-7/8" x 8-1/4" x 4-3/16" h
May not look it, but it fits Snugly over the Analog 4 MK2 and MPC Live.
Grabbing another one later today - and I will have reclaimed my desk space.

Angle is perfect. Most rooms would have a light directly behind found that angle best to not reflect light and also give you a comfortable view of whatever is in front of you. I think its about 22°. I was originally going to make the front part flush to the desk so the bottom of the P1 sits on the desk but it is better to have that gap at the bottom can get a notepad to sit under nicely. If I was to make the front flush I think the angle would be 18/19°.
The back of the other legs sits on a grommet so I would have to cut a notch out of the back leg for the whole thing to sit flush. You could make it not as long also though you would lose the curve on the bottom legs. Ikea also have laptop stands but they are not strong enough for controllers, as you change a fader/knob the whole thing dips. Not too stable.

Yes, it's good fun. Scratched a modular itch, gets me away from the computer screen. Lots of fun. Only downside is i'm already wanting more modular gear. Thinking of a TipTop Happy Ending to go into that rack, loaded up with a few choice models as & when I can afford them.O1B wrote: ↑29 Nov 2017You son of a - ! Looks great! What kind of sound/bass traps are those all over the place? I've just started building a new room and going to get a bunch of sound traps made next month. Would love to hear about yours, and they look cool
