Is that a good thing? Or a bad thing? Trailers are trailers. I've seen some trailers that are better than the movie.
ARE YOU GETTING EXCITED FOR THIS MOVIE?!
Or the trailer?

LOL - yeah, an oldie but a goodie.
Oh I'm excited as hell for Last Jedi, but I'm the sort of bloke that teared up when I sat in the theater and read the opening crawl of Force Awakens that opening weekend. I loved it, and I'm pretty sure I'll love Last Jedi.stratatonic wrote: ↑13 Oct 2017Is that a good thing? Or a bad thing? Trailers are trailers. I've seen some trailers that are better than the movie.

I went to see Arrival w a friend. We both got really emotional over it.
When the torrent came out, my mate sent me a text that said he now starts crying during the opening credits!!!
I think you'd be very welcome here in Bristol dood.

I think most trailers are better than the films these days. I've got a keen eye for that sort of thing. Also I know lots of people that score all that stuff so I tend to go to the cinema and get more excited about the trailers than I do the film I paid to go see! I think I'd pay a fiver to sit in a theatre and watch all the current trailers for like an hour. That would totally be worth it!
Hence my statement about making a 30min super trailer out of Blade Runner 2049 once the torrent comes out. It'll be better than the film.

Jesus, part of me thinks he's right the other a tad jealous of the other roles being played in the film he's not the focus of it!

It is not too much of an ask for people or things to be the best version of itself!
Luke's lost the plot for sure. But he's entertaining.AttenuationHz wrote: ↑13 Oct 2017Jesus, part of me thinks he's right the other a tab jealous of the other roles being played in the film he's not the focus of it!

You know what I took away from that? The likely ~$1200 USD spent on those three Shure SM7B's was money well spent, as they sound fantastic for broadcast vocals.

Guilty as well. "Do they use 3 Cloudlifter CL-1 as well?" I was thinking.EnochLight wrote: ↑14 Oct 2017You know what I took away from that? The likely ~$1200 USD spent on those three Shure SM7B's was money well spent, as they sound fantastic for broadcast vocals.

I thought The Last Jedi was the last one, but I guess there is one more after that. I git confused as they used to put these things out in threes, but now there are filler single movies at different points in the timeline? S'ok, I'll figure it out. Haven't seen 4,5 and 6 yet (in order of making them) - but from what I hear , no loss there...EnochLight wrote: ↑13 Oct 2017

Hmmm...I wonder who they pay Carrie Fisher's contract and points out to? Better crank out these movies fast - Hamill's looking pretty rough. Ford's not far behind.
.
AND OF COURSE, I think we have all come to expect that there are SOME workflow enhancements in every upgrade.

I do like the fast pace of the trailers, but I'd be BOOMED and BRAAHM'ed out after 15 minutes...plaamook wrote: ↑13 Oct 2017I think most trailers are better than the films these days. Well, Ford's character died in Force Awakens, so he's pretty much done with the series. Hamill looks rough, sure, but funny enough he seems to be in better "shape" than Sir Alec Guinness was playing the same part in '77, yet he's older (Guinness was 62-63; Hamill is 66). He's supposed to be an Old Jedi, so it works. But these are different times - action heros can be portrayed into their 60's and older these days. Back in the late 1970's, it was rare to see someone aged 63 jumping around and being an action star in films. But hell, for all we know Hamill's part in Last Jedi could be him standing around and doing nothing aside from batch at Daisy Ridley that she's not doing it right.stratatonic wrote: ↑19 Oct 2017Hmmm...I wonder who they pay Carrie Fisher's contract and points out to? I'm sure Carrie Fisher's estate gets paid post mortem (and whoever is responsible for her estate will get any money she was to be paid post-release). That said, she could have negotiated payment in full before filming, and blew it all on hookers and blow. jk

On Monday, the family of Robin Williams gathers in a San Francisco courtroom in a quarrel over how to divide personal property such as jewelry and memorabilia. Unfortunately, the dispute overshadows one of the more innovative aspects of Robin Williams' estate planning, which just might become a model for other celebrities preparing for their demise. After all, one thing his wife Susan and children Zachary, Zelda and Cody won't be discussing in court is intangible property like the late actor's right of publicity.
According to a review of the Robin Williams Trust — filed as an exhibit last Wednesday — Williams bequeathed rights to his name, signature, photograph and likeness to the Windfall Foundation, a charitable organization set up by Williams' legal reps at the law firm of Manatt, Phelps.
There are two important facets of this provision.
First, the Trust restricts exploitation of Robin Williams' right of publicity for 25 years after his death. That means, there won't be any authorized advertisements featuring Williams until at least August 11, 2039. The provision also interferes with someone immediately doing, say, a hologram of a Robin Williams standup routine or digitally inserting him into a new film.

Let's hope Carrie Fisher's estate is handled with a lot less drama. I always thought that Bruce Lee CGI in that commercial looked horrible. Like Steam/Half-Life 2 horrible (by today's standards, anyway).bxbrkrz wrote: ↑19 Oct 2017EnochLight wrote: ↑19 Oct 2017

Bruce's cgi from 2012 tech is fine. The message is: he was a drinker and loved alcohol. True?EnochLight wrote: ↑19 Oct 2017Let's hope Carrie Fisher's estate is handled with a lot less drama. If you're a fan of the uncanny valley, then sure.
That's not the message I took away from that advert, but it may speak differently to different people. But it seems like we're digressing from this thread.

Now that we can agree on!
Sidenote: their Star Wars Rebels animated series last season leads right up into the events of A Rogue One Story, which should be pretty cool. Also, they use a lot of cast members from an old series on HBO called "Rome", which was fantastic (and one of the reasons why the world got Game of Thrones, Vikings, and other high production "period piece" TV shows).

In other news, Charlton Heston's astronaut Taylor discovers that he's actually on a post-armageddon Earth in Planet of the Apes, Vader is revealed to be Luke's father in Empire Strikes Back, and in a total reversal of the Walking Dead, that Jesus guy becomes a zombie in "the Bible: Volume 2 Mixtape" but wants people to eat his blood and body for some reason or another.
