After talking about all the things that you don't like about Reason 10, I am interested in the opinion of those who wanted new synths and plan to upgrade!

BTW the beta has not even started so we don't know if there is anything else coming with Reason 10.0!
If it's true the beta hasn't started yet that suggests to me they are making some more tweaks before it starts :)

Well I've been keeping my eye on my inbox. No news yet! Probably just as well as I've got work to do and won't get a damn thing done when it arrives ;)

Grain is really the interesting one for me. Arkana is cool but it lacks a custom display. Proton is cool but the display is a bit laggy (it's improved since the last update though!). Having a PH granular synth integrated right into the rack should be great, especially from a sound design perspective. I make Kontakt libraries with a company and I've kind of exhausted my repertoire of tricks with synthesis (for now). Looking forward to getting some granular stuff on the go, especially now I've got me some contact mics!

Gonna sample all the things and then chuck em into Grain!

I personally like that the new instruments look like they're gonna be easy to use. Just enough features for my taste. I'll take simplicity over endless options any day. They look focused instead of trying to be everything at once.
There's always exceptions of course but overall this is how I want my devices. There's not necessarily anything wrong with lots of tweaking abilities as long as it doesn't take me 30 minutes to come up with a decent sound.

I know some people want as much as possible slapped together in one device, well that's not me. I'm glad the new sampled instruments are seperated into different REs.

I'm very interested in Grain and Europa - I'll never say no to new synths. The new style of envelopes (well, new to a Propellerhead instrument) looks awesome.

Cool! Will it go on YouTube after? I ditched Facebook in a laughable attempt to be more productive.

Super exciting! I sure hope Europa and Grain delivers. Isn't the quality of facebook streams really bad tough? Or maybe that's changed?

Kool!
Grain seems like it Will be fun no matter what. It's just That type of instrument wether from Propellerheads or any free or paid Vst.

EUROPA ? I have my reservations. I think it looks cool but simple at the same time and I'm also thinking hype from people on this thread who haven't used this synth, is telling me not to expect too much.
.... Very interested to see and hear it demoed and explained.

The other 3, it's nice to have them and I'm sure the effects on them will make them sound heavenly...but....uhm...yea... EUROPA and Grain is what I hope will be well demoed.
My opinion is that Propellerhead REASON needs a complete rewrite!
P.S: people should stop saying "No it won't happen" when referring to a complete rewrite of REASON. I have 3 letters for ya....VST

Really looking forward to Europa & Grain, but the sequencer needs some urgent love. My hopes is that it will get it in some 10.x update, why else not releasing Europa & Grain as RE's (for even more € than the update cost) if not something badass is around the door :)

Facebook stream quality is indeed so-so, but it's the smoothest medium we have. It might even be in mono, which will NOT do Europa justice. However, I'm hoping we can capture audio from the stream separately and post that with the video on YouTube. Tomorrow's tech set-up day so we'll see. :)

Twitch has pretty decent quality.

You! You get out of my head! I can't wait to record all sorts of dumb shit and make it musical... "IN TODAYS DRUM SET, TWO PIECES OF SALAMI SLAPPING TOGETHER, CHOPPED, STRETCHED, PITCHED AND FX'D"
How was I supposed to know "don't touch" meant to not push the big...red...button?

A Europa/Grain song challenge would be pretty sweet. ;)
I think a Reason 10 song challenge would be a blast. I'm looking into it on behalf of this great community and will keep all informed.

I love love love love Reason 9...therefore adding new synths and performance improvements in macOS Sierra, would icing on the cake! Especially at the price point of $129! What?! I spend that on a good weekend at a bar! I’d gladly pay that. I love propellerhead.

The obvious question is will the Props cave and finally allow pre-orders?

Right now if you own Reason 8 or below (or don't own Reason) you can technically pre-order by just buying Reason 9 or the upgrade to Reason 9 and you'll get R10 when it comes out. It would be very nice for us dedicated Reason 9 users if we could pre-order too, get it out of the way and manage our budgets a little easier.

You could budget as if the Reason upgrade is already available but you just haven't bought it yet, and then when the Reason upgrade becomes available, you'll have already budgeted for it. Magic!

Another way of looking at it: think of the amount a Reason upgrade costs, and pretend you actually literally can't spend it on anything other than a Reason upgrade. If it helps the pretence, you can withdraw the cash and bury it in a biscuit tin in the park, to be exhumed only when a Reason upgrade is available - but in practice I find 9 times out of 10 I can just leave the money in the bank and not do that and just imagine.

Why not streaming on Twitch? You should give it a try. Full HD stereo, good enough for the dead mouse when he goes live.

Also you could split and send the HD output and record it separately. Once you publish the video on youtube replace the bad audio with the HD audio forever. Most people will check youtube, not facebook live. That looks bad for a product pushing for top audio production. "Muh facebook's fault!" won't fly.
You do not have to suffer from super bad audio facebook Stockholm Syndrome each time you release a new Reason. Get a pro audio card with very low latency, a very solid multi-client driver and loopback option.

1080 is just for partners though (those who have a sub button). If you try to stream 1080 when you have no subscribers it can buffer and stutter when there is a large audience due to bandwidth allocation. 720 is still okay quality though. I'd say a big company like Propellerhead would have no trouble sorting that out with Twitch on short notice.

I'm particularly interested in the Grain synthesizer, and I hope it will come close to the Max/MSP versions of granular synthesis that I like to work with. The way those are programmed provide more than just a granular noise fest or clicks and pops. I have Proton, it's pretty much the Max/MSP style. I wish it was available as an effect versus a synth (without sample loading, just place it over a track). I see the Grain synthesizer as a very similar synthesizer to the Proton, and I hope it's almost as detailed.

For Europa, I hope it's close to the sound of Parsec, with the ability to go beyond. I have Expanse and Zero, but I still use Parsec for the majority of my sounds. I'm hopeful that Europa will work similar to Expanse while being less of a draw on the CPU. That would be something!
