Just kidding, mostly.
After all, why would a VST plugin maker, whose plugins could work on multiple DAWs, sponsor a contest specifically for one particular DAW?
But I was just thinking how the contests might be affected. Of course, a contest to feature a particular RE instrument would have to confine itself to that instrument, but the sheer expanse of effects soon to be available means that "entirely within Reason" takes on a brand new dimension.
So when's the first VST song challenge?

That's true.
Just some clarification on where we stand internally, we haven't fully decided on what level of coverage to give VST as a dimension. Right off the bat, I personally think we'll limit the competitions to refills and rack extensions as always. The VST market is 3rd party in the most literal sense, it's hard to decide where to start really. We'd like to cover VSTs in the tutorials, news and article front since it is a dimension in Reason now after all, but we're not decided on how to cover it in terms of being a Propellerhead centered resource when it comes stuff like competitions.

We could honour Steve Duda with a "SERUM Song Chalenge"
Is a highly discussed synth and is the first ever to appear in the R9.5 promo. We say that as an appetizer is the most suitable.
Makes sense? [emoji2]

RE song challenges are dependent on REs' 30-day free trial periods, which most VSTs don't allow, so the nature of the contests would need to be very different.

For the record, I chatted with Steve Duda about a potential Serum Song Challenge in Reason. He basically said he has never agreed to make Serum the "prize" since he believes there are no winners or losers in music making. I did however get his approval for Reasonsitas Serum Combinator backdrop, which I will release for free as soon as the first round of VST Combinator Backdrops are completed. Here is sneak preview:Karim wrote:We could honour Steve Duda with a "SERUM Song Chalenge"

That's correct. VST song challenge entry periods would have to coincide with the length of the demo, or participants would have to own the featured VST plugin with winners receiving other devices from the developer.esselfortium wrote:RE song challenges are dependent on REs' 30-day free trial periods, which most VSTs don't allow, so the nature of the contests would need to be very different.
