Reason 9.5 does VST 2.4 = no audio inputs for vst's ?

I read vst 3.0 added audio inputs, like sidechain in for compressors. So VST 2.4 doesn't have that yet ?
What is the use of the 8 inputs on the vst container then ?

VST 2.4 can do it. I dont think its officially supported, which is why its marked as a vst3 official feature, but there are plenty of 2.4 vsts that can take audio inputs as sidechains and what not

Just loaded in a VC160 from NI and inputs 3/4 are lit up at the back. I guess that means I can use them as sidechain inputs!
