reason 10 news?
Hi.
Any idea about when Reason 10 will be releasing? Is there any beta going on?
Just bought reason upgrade and thought to wait before registering or activating.
Any advice.
Regards,
Anil

Your guess is as good as anyone else's. Propellerhead doesn't leak info about the next version until it's in public beta, so I'd guess that you're safe to activate your 9.0 upgrade.anilnc wrote:Hi.

It usually takes 2-3 years for a new version to surface.
Since reason's had the ability to use external plugins without rewire since it's inception I figured it's about time I learn 8 inside and out in the meantime and drop the other progs.

Ehhh, nope. Since 6.5 came out, not quite:Oquasec wrote:It usually takes 2-3 years for a new [MAJOR] version to surface..
Reason 6.5: released 14 June, 2012
Then, less than 1 year later....
Reason 7: released 30 April, 2013
Then, 1 year & 5 months later...
Reason 8: released 30 Sept, 2014
Then, 1 year & 8 months later...
Reason 9: released 22 June, 2016
Then add all of the point updates in between, and Propellerhead have really stepped up their game since 6.5...

I think we will see another update to Reason 9 before 10 comes.

My guess is about August / September for Reason 10. That would be 14-15 months after the release of Reason 9.

Yeah, and a Kontakt RE is going to be included as the latest stock device.motuscott wrote:VST support. Most definitely happening this time.
Actually all that pales against the new concept called 'Feature Wish Realization' (FWR) which is coming as standard (although not in Essentials), it incorporates a thing called 'Install Genie' which you just rub for a little while and any feature lack that you may percieve is automagically merged into Reason at run-time.
So next time you wish for xxx feature to be included in Reason it will be issued as a command and embedded in the code next time you start the program.
It's designed to make whining obsolete which, if it actually works, may distress some forum readers a great deal,
Searching endlessly for those much awaited mung bean filled maracca samples is going to be a thing of the past, you'll see.

I calculated the time between the release dates for the past 10 years of Reason releases.
The average time between major versions is 687 days.
The shortest time was between Reason 5 and Reason 6, which was 401 days.
The longest time was between Reason 4 and Reason 5, which was 1093 days.
If we consider only the three most recent versions (more likely to be representative), we get an average of 575 days.
We are, as of today, 302 days into Reason 9. If the current release pattern holds, we could then expect Reason 10 to be released 273 days from now which would mean Reason 10 would be released on January 17, 2018.
Code: Select all
Version Date Days since previous version
Today 4/19/2017 302d
9 6/21/2016 630d
8 9/30/2014 518d
7 4/30/2013 578d
6 9/30/2011 401d
5 8/25/2010 1093d
4 8/28/2007 901d
3 3/10/2005

I don't want to sound the VST broken record but VST support would be Awesome!! If reason had true VST integration I would sell Studio one ASAP....Studio one is a great program I enjoy using it but sorry VST in reason.....
If the props announced VST support I would have to have my wife pinch me to verify that I had not died and in my death spiral hallucinating this VST support announcement.
I would probably tell my boss that I have a life emergency, take a immediate 1 week vacation and spend the next 80 hours in reason using all the VST instruments I have collected.
I would probably wake up from a comma realizing it was only a dream. Kind of like super mario 2

Everybody always wants more, more, more, more... enjoy what you have people! Looking forward to wherever Propellerhead will take Reason in the future though. In the meantime this is the perfect opportunity to learn and use the tools you have!

It would take more than vst support to get rid of studio one. Been using that as the replacement for fl studio for ages.
Reason needs a UI editor, an external vst host of it's own with built in loopback [which is basically asking propeller to make another daw because it's not possible in reason to begin with] and the ability to program custom snap settings with xml or automation drawing tools that resemble studio one's.
Which reason is far of from right now.

Hi,
Thanks for your response. I didn't get any email notifications regarding these replies, so randomly came to see so many replies. Thanks
Yes, I was about to say that sometimes PH has released new version in less than 2 years. And after a sale. That's why I wanted to know.
