Reason 10 requests (yes, MY R10 requests)
As a Reason user since Reason 2 AND a versatile DAW/VSTi combo user (i used Cubase a lot, FL Studio 12 since a couple of months, and Ableton Live is always here, ready to go), here is my wishlist for R10 :
Sequencer :
. vector automations, don't need to explain this
. the ability to group several sequencer tracks in order to see in the background the notes of all the selected tracks, like in FL Studio. Very efeective to follow a chord progression, find the notes for your leads, bass etc. Very good to write your beat when you use multiple instruments for it (i.e a NNXT for hit hats and a kong for kick/snares)
. recycle full integration
. move the midi options from F8 popup menu to a contextual menu on top of the sequencer window, like it is for audio options
Stock devices :
. maelstrom V2, with the ability to load our samples inside, like in Serum
. Thor V2, with more modules (new sound generators, new filter types)
. Delete NN19, move the NN19 sound in NNXT V2, which can be a better sampler with more options like autoslice samples, timestrech options like preserve pitch or not, preserve sample duration while pitching or not etc, like Armour in FL
. updated Mclass devices, just copy the fabfilter ones, it's perfect (display etc)
. Substractor is just totally outdated, the aliasing is horrible, delete it
. update the little fx modules, they sounds cheap but delay / chorus / filter etc are needed as stock devices in any daw. The Ableton Live ones are perfect for what ppl need : basic, readable et effective
. update Combinator to comb V2, with 8 knobs, 8 buttons
Mixer / regroove :
. update the color of them to fit with the new skins, don't need more options on those
Other :
. make Reason as a Rewire Master, finally, because we know that it never host vst, at least as a rewire master we can use it with other daws without behing the slave (open FL studio, open reason, do the things you have to, close reason, close FL, reopen reason WTF !)
. make Orkester sound bank V2, seriously props, those sounds are no more usable since at least 5 years !
more or less that's my requests,
cheers
Update : i forgot delay compensation, obviously a must have

And it's Malstrom not Maelstrom.

Yeah if you don't want to use the NN-19 just don't use it. Plus people may have plenty of songfiles which do so would cause problems. I have the same argument for people who say, "It won't make your music any better by implementing features", if you don't want Reason to grow, don't upgrade. It doesn't affect you. I personally do.

yes. why delete it and delete subtractor too?! I have at least 13.000 song since Reason 1.0. what about retrocompatibility? I don't stand this kind of mentality completely egocentric. And subtractor is still awesome and thousand of people won't upgrade if they put it out!tiker01 wrote:Keep NN19 it has some features NNXT doesn`t.
So Props delete Dr rex. we have audio tracks now.
Delete Redrum. We have Kong!
Delete Reason 9 entirely and make a Daw to fit my taste and f*ck oft other users.

if anything the devices could be upgraded like with rv7000 with additions but stil be backwards compatible.

He's the dude who makes the videos for propellerhead, the trap drum tutorial the super neat cheat sheet or something like that, he's one of the faces for PH in one of their music making month videos he talks about how lots of people love either Thor or malstrom but how he loves the simplicity of subtractor, I personally love malstrom and Thor subtractor gets little use from me but I do Love the phase modifiers or what ever they are

I happen to agree. Subtractor is a perfect synth to learn synthesis on. It's what I used to learn. Well laid out and organised. You can get your head 'round it easy.

Well, why delete an outdated synth with horrible aliasing in almost any frequency ? You really ask why ? Isn't that obvious ? Or at least, reprogram it completely, make a Substractor V2, because as it is, it is just unusable in any serious production.

13 000 songs ? Really ? you must be the world recordman of production dude, OR you just call "songs" some random loops. Anyway, joke aside... My PoV is not "egocentric", i do work in a professional context, i like Reason since R1 but a DAW (that's what props want Reason to be now, not a "pedagological soft") must sound modern and pro, or it's not a DAW, just a second line software. So, no, Substractor is not "awesome", as it is, it's absolut crap for real production (like a lot of other stock modules in Reason). Even free synths on IPad don't have so much aliasing. Octorex (Dr Rex as been deleted btw) is a rex player, (like Stylus and other rex based ) it have is place as stocks devices. Redrum is also more or less useless, the only thing that saves it is the integrated sequencer.
I like Reason and use it a lot (well, to be honnest, i use RE a lot, stocks devices, i barely use one or two of them), and i would like to see Reason to go back in the top production soft, like it was.... 10 years ago. It is now far, far, far behind Cubase, FL, Live etc etc etc. Let's be honnest : no real producer use it anymore, in EDM, Hiphop, Trap, Dubstep etc etc etc. They have all move to other options because Reason sounds cheap, the sequencer in far behind, even the pitching/stretching algorythm is behind. The only quality of Reason now is the price for beginners with no budget... and no torrents

Hmm I don't get all the fuss about Aliasing. I mean Aliasing happens when a signal surpasses the nyquist Frequency right ? AFAIK it should not happen in lower frequencies and IF it happens you can counter it with increasing the sample rate in the preferences ?!?rman974 wrote:Well, why delete an outdated synth with horrible aliasing in almost any frequency ? To be honest, whatever the sounds you hear, I am allmost 100% sure its not aliasing. Also I don't think I ever had troubles with artifacts of whichever kind in the subtractor. It has a clean, digital sound and for some things its just perfect.
TBH, I just read up in the wikipedia to understand Aliasing and I am far from being an expert on that topic. Pls correct me if i am telling rubbish..
cheers!

I still use Subtractor, though a bit less often nowadays. I just did a song almost entirely based on Subtractor it a few weeks ago, actually. It sounds just as good as ever. I've used it in tons of serious productions and never heard any complaints about sound quality in them.

yes. And is still a little beast if you know how to tweak it ..esselfortium wrote:I still use Subtractor, though a bit less often nowadays.
