Just ordered a new CPU today:

Can't wait to use it
Xeon 14 Core CPU Power <250€ !!!!
Very interesting choice. Very curious to see what kind of performance you get with the reason benchmark file.
Edit: i see from the benchmark thread that you know its an engineering sample. Which is good because then you are probably aware that they stay property of Intel and aren't for resale. Fortunately usually Intel only tracks the sellers of these, not the buyers to ask their property back. But ymmv I'd be carefull though. Even though most kinks are usually ironed out of these chips they are beta products. And if they misbehave you can't ask Intel.

Ok, I'll bite. I'm old enough I have seen the "best" wars between these two, and 10 years ago, AMD was the shizzle! (was it the 4000? can't remember, but I was the envy of my community!)
Interested.
But, the heating thing has been a real problem for AMD in recent years, have they addressed this?

In other news, I just had my workstation computer fried by a power surge. Only a 6 core 3.4gHz CPU but it had 32 gigs of RAM, 256 gig SSD, 12 terabyte raid drive, RADEON R9 video card. Very bummed. Apparently one must spent around $400 to get a truly effective surge protector, and even then there are no guarantees.
