Here's a song on Discover by Mike Kuz and ItsOKtoDream (amazing vocalist) to which I added a little Santana-style guitar:

I'll be honest and say that I don't think the guitar addition is a success :)

This is one of those many cases where less is more - NOT adding stuff or removing stuff can be a much more difficult mental challenge than the opposite!

Wish I had the solo vocal track to play with though!

With a high pass filter, you can probably get it pretty well.

Yup I found it, but I think highpassing wouldn't be enough, I think those hihats would interfere with almost any new rhythm. Maybe some serious bandpassing would work... But I have very little experience with isolating vocals. People often ask about isolating vocals (remembering ye olde forum) and the answer always seems to be: it's damn difficult!

Weird - I opened it from Discover in Reason, and I had to lower it by about 7 (!) db before it was below clipping. Why does this happen? Discover's compression?

Hey Oscar, I worked on the filtering for the guitar so it wouldn't take away from the voice.  Here's the heavy hi pass/lo pass filter:

Here's the mix now:

Hey John, on some of those parts - what if you actually accented her melodies instead of playing in unison with her voice? What I mean is, maybe echoing some of her melodies? I do see where you're going with it and I like it!
