Kuassa and Softube for guitar
The vintage Kuassa Vermilion sounds good to my ears , for things other than guitar too. The bass combo Cerberus is great too.
I particularly like being able to use just the amp or the speaker. So running speakers in parallel or mixing and matching to taste is feasible. They seem to be an approachable , friendly team too.

I find Vermillion is great for giving an analogue sound to sampled instruments. Specifically the clean tone settings with a stereo cabinet. This is the first guitar amp where I actually like the clean tone sounds more than the distorted sounds. That being said, the distorted tones a fantastic. I own Creme too, but I can't say that it gets much use when Vermillion is just so much better.

If you have both, you can run a Vermillion without the amp or cabinet simulation and just get the FX section.Last Alternative wrote: Man I wish Creme had tremelo & reverb too :/ but I actually like Creme more for its moderner sound.

Well...
I am working on a Plexi patch using Rock Amp + Fat cabinet and with EQ for the Amp and Pulveriser and EQ after the Amp seems to be working rather nice. I am able to get rid of the sizzling highs which are caused by the saturation. So EQ before Rock Amp is a must

I've been playing with Vermillion a LOT
Great
Cream is also good for Rex loops and over the top gain sounds on direct guitars
Still, sadly they ( amp sims ) all still sound sterile and 'fake' in essence to me
( Except Vandal that is )

Here's a little clip with 9 seconds of Softube Amp then 9 seconds of Kuassa Vermilion. I had to add pultec-style bass EQ and 1.3:1 compression to the Vermilion to get them similar. The difference in sound is like EL84 tubes vs 6L6 tubes in some ways.

JF- they both sound good to me. It's just a matter of what tone you're after. Like a lot of amps, sometimes it takes more work to make the raw tone shine more but it's worth it. For example, no built-in reverb on an amp? Get a reverb pedal.
People are easily unsatisfied because the presets don't deliver. I'll admit I loved the Line6 bass amp, hated the Line6 guitar amp but there were a few things I did like about it: clean channels and 2 of the delayed style clean fx but to me all the distortion modes were cheap shit even aside from the presets- making my own. That's my take. Especially when you have no amp and have to record DI and options are limited... you just gotta make what you have work. And you are very good at that!

So Vermillion = EL84 and
Softube amp = 6L6?
or the other way around
I have both amp types so that would be perfect !

I was thinking more the other way around, the Softube seems warmer in the midrange like an EL84, with smoother highs. Both lovely.jfrichards wrote:Here's a little clip with 9 seconds of Softube Amp then 9 seconds of Kuassa Vermilion. More cause for guitar happiness inside Reason. Softube Amp with the X-wah:

Even Henry Garza would have a hard time telling this was 100% simulation.

Wow, I just found all the presets for Softube Amp in the Rack Extension folder. There are dozens of great tweakable sounds.

I had to tweak many of them for different guitars, especially the presets with harsh high end, which seem to be designed for low-mid toned Les Paul type guitars, definitely not Strats. Lots of the effects combinators are very cool, like the envelope wahs, and the straight wah sounds. And Marco has that nice set available too.gak wrote:Though I'm thankful I went through those presets, and a couple made it to my favorites folder, most are not very good for what I like. Again though, many thanks because I didn't even think to check stuff like that and I found some dandy's with other stuff
