Fun fact: I exported the drum beat to midi and that is the bass line :)

Experimenting like you did is fun indeed!
It's so easy to get stuck in old habits so throwing some creativity in the mix can be really inspiring.

This has a great late 80s/early 90s feel to it. Mantronix 'Got to Have Your Love' era. That bass is wonderful. It's very danceable. The loose percussion works perfectly.
