R10 with a bunch of free synths (synth1, Firebird 2, Tyrell N6) and SynthMaster.

Not sure if Synthwave is right. What do you think?
It's not a Christmas song, that's for sure.
Merry Christmas anyways!

Hi Mr Shadow

It could go on the lighter side of EBM, but the kids don't know what that is so Synthwave is fine if you want Plays.

Sounds great in many ways with that Sigue Sigue Sputnik style of Rockabilly. I think it could really use a central thing like a Vocal as hard-riffing gets a bit old after a while.

Still sounds great though.

Thanks, Benedict!

Adding a vocal sample is a good idea. I'm going to try that.

Sick tune! The lead synth reminds me a bit of a tritoneaddiction thing.

as synthwave right now has a branch that evolves into gritty cyberpunk sounds, id say the genre is right. the track has a great atmosphere and sequencing as well as solid phrases. but it really feels overcompressed at times and lacks air (~12-12.5 khz) imo.

The lack of air didn't occur to me while I was mixing this track but I agree with you.
I'll keep that in mind for the next track.
Thanks!

Good job! Hiiting hard and heavy. I like this style of synthwave/cyberpunk. Lots of dynamics. Any trouble mastering this piece? What does your mastering chain look like?

Yes, I struggled a lot mixing this track. It has 45 channels and all of them are quite noisy. Early versions had ear damaging highs which I couldn't simply roll off because then all of the grittiness was gone. Also, I didn't manage to clear out the muddiness in the bass region as much as I wanted to.
I use OTT and Ozone Elements on many channels and also on the master channel.
