Summer's here in Amsterdam! I really don't know what to call this as far as genre is concerned, but it was fun making it. Also a new record in brevity for us at 5:24. Samples are taken from an old archival film about Haile Selassie's visit to Jamaica.

Thanks man, it's an odd sort of hodge podge but I'm glad it made some kind of sense to you :-)

This is just my opinion, and in the art of creating music there are no right or wrong!

You have a nice interesting psychedelic intro and then you got a nice cool reggae dub beat going for the first two minutes. After the two minutes its feels like it changes and you loose abit of the nice reggae beat you got going!

Don't be afraid to keep that beat rolling, and maybe try to cut some of the samples, the mid freq feels abit packed. Maybe you could cut some of the effects or one or two samples?
Anyway a nice unique sound, keep exploring it!

Very creative song. I've randomly been watching a lot of 70's & 80's horror movies lately. This song reminds me of some of the music from them. I really like the last few minutes of this. Nice work as usual.

Thanks for listening man. Yeah it's been difficult to find a "final form" for this track. The change-up in beat is kind of part of the track, it goes back to full speed at the end. But I do get that the steeldrum+bass+beat groove is kind of just discarded in the 2nd part. Maybe I could work in it somehow, but the track is already pretty busy. I'm not really settled on the samples yet myself, I agree that the track is pretty busy especially in the mid. I might still cut some stuff out.

Hey, I'm always happy to take a compliment but ehm... 80ies horror music? Are you sure you're listening to the same track (a mildly toasted tropical/retro sounding jam with surf organs, horns and dub shenanigans) or is there some selassie-centered 80ies horror subgenre that I'm not aware of?

I left out the type of horror movie to reduce my chances of mentioning some of the ridiculous movies I had in mind. Now that you're forcing me to reveal more details I guess I have to bite the bullet. Late 70's / early 80's cannibal movies like Cannibal Holocaust and Cannibal Ferox. Some of the music throughout has a similar vibe as your song with that quirky on the run in a tropical place sound. The music in these movies aren't like what you or anyone would have assumed from my vague horror movie comment that would leave anyone thinking of darker music.

Not to derail the topic at hand but Cannibal Holocaust has some really good music throughout. I'm not advising anyone to watch it since it has some pretty intense moments but Auryn forced me to explain what I meant
