First mix at my tribute to this enduring genre. Still working on the production although this will do for now. . Vocals from free Ras Kitchen sample. Samples piano loop ang guitar stabs - should have played them myself but I was struggling for the right sound. Bass, Drums mine (NN19 & Breaktweaker). All feedback appreciated.
See below for remixed version - thanks.

Remixed and fixed (a bit) ...
I ran it through some of my devices... here's some things i saw...
- Your stereo field (M/S) is HUGE. too HUGE. It's killing the BASS. QEStereoSplitter, Pro-Q and UpStereoPro - 70-90% reduction.
Your sides peaking near unity. Too much, i think. Lower it and listen to the Bass. I think you'll agree.
- Looks like you high passed everything under 50-60Hz. (40Hz is nonexistent)... Reggae needs that.
- ~82.5 Hz and 123Hz have a serious buildup of REZ.. Better to Carve the Kick or Bass than to effect the whole mix.
with that, i think the 60Hz will be able to Breathe...
- Nice High Frequencies, I must say. try some Resonance and Reverb on it.
- Roomverb spices it up when i add some
- Some Bass-focuesed Compression could enhance that 'bam bam bam'
(The mini KAOSS 2S helped me with the analysis. Great devices for such moments... the black back is the new one - 2s.)
Great start. Absolutely.

Thanks man, I'll try and get to grips with all of that, although I'm not entirely clear how I address the issues - Master Stereo Imager & EQ? I am working with the Props Mix n Master Rig so still learning mostly by ear. Production I try but still very much on the L plates.I'll work on it - appreciate the input.O1B wrote: ↑05 Jul 2017I ran it through some of my devices... here's some things i saw...
