I think you got most of things to correct on my list.Smedberg wrote:selig wrote:Nice song!
On my system it's possibly sound a bit too scooped or "smily face" for me. The bass is actually is overpowering a bit in places IMO, possibly eating up some valuable headroom?
The vocals are plenty loud, and surprised me a bit when they first entered. Or maybe it's the intro instruments that are a bit too soft?
In fact I really can't "hear" any of the instruments in many places; it's like the vocalist is standing very close, the drummer and bass player are next, and everyone else is in a wash behind them (besides the guitar soloist, nice solo btw).Â
There's no way I could qualify these points as making the mix sound good or bad, it would depend on what your intuitions are for the mix.
For me personally I would find some of the instruments to push up to fill the midrange out a bit. Those crunch guitars on the chorus will drive the song if you let them!
The Bass and Verse Vocal being a tad to loud.
The solo guitar should probably go up a bit or that is just the feeling compared to the verse vocal next to it.
And yes, a bit more prominent guitars in the chorus.
Problem was that there was to many instruments fighting in same EQ range.
One up, some disappears...
Had a lot of fighting with eq on different instruments in this song.
More air on the drums made the vocal need more treble as well and everything was a big "esss" in the end.
I think I re-did the mixing from scratch probably 5-6 times because I got further and further away from how I wanted it.
I have learnt a lot coming so far though..
Thanks all for listening.<img src="/images/boards/smilies/thumb.gif" alt="[thumb]" class="emoticon bbc_img" title="Thumb - :thumb:
