Have you ever had the pleasure of using really edgy samplers like Mirage, S-612/700, S-10, Casio's RZ-1 drum machine etc? Where sounds were dirty, loops could be quite ugly etc? I am coming from this hiphoppy / techno kind of background and I always loved that. The refill Orlando JX10 does exactly this. I really thought it was more of a common practice to deliberately misuse samplers this way. I can really enjoy when sounds are samply. Maybe even a little out of tune. I think that's fun for lack of a better world. Is anyone using Orlando JX10? Would love to hear what you've done with it. It was truly designed to be a Detroit 12" 1988 inspiration, embracing the samply sound. Some patches in the other refills are also designed this way, made to be this way, perhaps some users misread this as something not done right lol. I love hi fi sounds but mixing in a bit of lofi truly creates amazing stuff according to me. It's like cooking, if the food has just a tad too much of chili and garlic my alert level increases and I start smiling.
