Making your own patches is definitely something I would recommend to other people as well. Not because there's anything wrong with using presets or anything. I still do that sometimes.
But for practical reasons. I just find it so much easier to find sounds when all the patches I'm scrolling through are tailor made for my specific taste and needs.
