From soft tube to Kiwassa but I find I have more controllable sound when I use the pulverizer
or sream with some r7000

There's no wrong answers in music production, only preferences.
I use a pedal board into reason, split between 2-3 amp simulators, sometimes with effects before the simulators, sometimes after, sometimes both. If you don't like using amp simulators, that's alright too. I often use the RV7000 as a "reverb pedal" before amp sims, and the softube reverb rack extension as a room simulator.

Use EQs and other processing. This has a huge impact on the sound. Check out this thread for a bit inspiration:
