Just a quick one...
Can 16 bit samples still be poor quality?
Might sound like a silly question but just because the sample is 16 bit, does this automatically mean it's a good sample?

no you can store any shitty sound in 16 bits, even 2 bits sounds can be stored into 16. 16 bits doesn't change the file, doesn;t make it sound better. so if the source is bad, 16 bit file will sound just as bad.
The official statement is that 16bits is enough for human hearing, but the advantage of 32 bit mostly is the extra headroom.
