Don't you just "love" it when Patch Programmer's name their patches 180º out of phase from reality?? Just because you NAME your patch "ULTIMATE EDM BASS", or "DUBSTEP EXPLOSION" doesn't make it so. 90% of these patch names are beyond misleading, and some are literally oblivious. Some are like "Mega Bass" -- but a keychain harmonica has more bass, texture, and loudness. OR "Lush Warm Pad", and it sounds like frying bacon on tin foil on a camp stove with a fan running nearby, with NO tone to it, and chords make it sound like a broken chainsaw. DO NOT make patches for styles of music you don't even like, regularly listen to, or genres you don't typically don't write in. It's not fair to anyone who actually aspires to create music in those genres.
Name your patches so that musicians stand a chance. If you're going to write name patches "WubStarzBa55", LEARN how to actually make a 'WUB' bass sound that would actually be respected by those who use them. If you're going to make a "R333se Ba55" learn how to use FM and modulation, listen to some excision, or any actual MODERN POPULAR music that's uses the technique -- not just watch some dry tutorial where one guy makes one mediocre patch.
And do patch programmers realize that the invention of STEREO sound has happened? Unless you're writing a 70's disco lead sound, try to give these patches some STEREO ACTIVITY that is interesting to the ears and psychoacoustic perceptions, and that actually FITS into a mix/production.
But at LEAST -- at the VERY least -- stop confusing your sound with something it's NOT. Give it a damn HONEST NAME.
Either get the SOUND right, or get the NAME right. Hopefully BOTH.
"Overly Thin Airy Pad"
"Warm Filtered Evolving Pad Ruined by Being DEAD MONO"
"Pseudo Upright Bass That Sounds Like a Plucked Orthodontics Rubber Band"
"A Bunch of Layered Crappy Noize"
"Even Crappier Noizez"
"Non-Chord-able Pad"
"Pad full of horrible overtones that sound 'interesting' on it's own but will NOT fit in any song with harmonies or melodies PAD"

Monkey Fart Bass doesn't seem all that appealing though.
