I'm looking for a good harp instrument. I'm a fan of Andreas Vollenweider and would like to make some music inspired by some of his songs. I found the Harp in Orchestra but it does not give the sound I'm looking for. Is there a way to tweak it to sound better or should I just buy the Harp refill? Is the Harp Refill worth it? Link to the refill https://shop.propellerheads.se/product/harp/

I had never head of the refill you linked to. I've been using Highland Harps as my go-to harp for a bit. (Or the any of the 'dulci' patches in the R9 soundbank.)

Check it out, $9.

Vollenweider uses a special electrical harp, somewhat similar to an e-guitar.
So to get the sound I think it would help to run a harp through a guitar amp.

Maybe it can be done with a synth?

Now I'm kicking myself. I was looking hard at that during the sale when it was only $25. But I didn't know it comes with a harp. Do you have any samples of the harp from that package?

Does it sound like this?

Actually I went to Softphonics site and saw they have Chambre on sale for $25 so I did not hesitate to purchase after watching a YouTube demo. BUT, after purchasing, I see no download link. Anyone know how their process works? I hope I didn't move too soon.

I haven't tried the harp in your original post. After hearing the demos and noting that it's got ONLY 3 combis, and those three appear to be the same set of harp samples just tuned down an octave or two, I'd caution you to avoid it. There's been plenty better options suggested in this thread.

Also this VST is not bad.

Highland Harps is good. Anything from Impact Soundworks is worth its weight in gold. (...does software have a weight?)

I actually ended up buying Chambre from Softphonics' site. Loving it so far. And thanks for the link. I'm trying out a few items from there as well.

I tried the Harp in Chambre with a bass amp....sounds VERY close! Thanks.

A mix of Chambre and Highland harps. (plus Chambre viola and cello.)

Feedback welcomed.
