I just accidentally deleted what I thought was my refill folder on my flash drive. Turns out, it was my actual collection of refills I have collected since Reason 3+ :m0358:
And there goes years and years of rare and one off refills that I will never see again. Sad panda :'(

After hitting ctrl+z for the last 5 minutes it looks like sadly there looks like there is no way to undelete :'( And of course, no backup. I have my songs backed up, but it never really crossed my mind to backup my refills once I merged all of my old drives to this one. On the bright side, at least I still have some carrot cake left over from Sunday, haha.
Did you empty your Trash?
What about your old drives that you copied from?

Sadly the files did not end up in the trash as the folder was "too large" to fit in the recycle bin. I will definitely be searching through some of my old drives when I get home, hopefully I did not wipe them clean... I will definitely still be missing the ones from more recent years, but something is definitely better than nothing at this point.
any Refills bought in PropShop can be re-downloaded trough your account, hope this helps a bit
As far as i know, as long as you don't write any new, or update existing files on that disk, your files are still there. There are way's to get them back besides getting them back from the trash.
Now you say its a USB flash drive. You're probably in luck because these shouldn't support the trim command. Trim is what immedeately wipes all the sectors on a file you delete on an SSD... which is part of the reason why you don't have to defrag an SSD...
If its an external HD you're also in luck.
If its a newer SSD you may be out of luck.
Try something like https://www.piriform.com/recuva/download to see if you really lost all your files..
Most important thing, for the love of do NOT write to the disk untill you exhausted alternative methods to get your files back !

bummer! I feel for you, but if there is anything positive out of this it's that you will continue to move forward making good music without the stuff from your past. it's almost like a fresh start...and less time will be spent looking for stuff like samples and patches. you can always start to rebuild the really important things that you used the most but if i can give you any advice is to not beat yourself up over it..what's done is done! now implement a better strategy and back up your stuff in case it happens again

Unfortunately I was cleaning my USB flash drive, and had my Reason Refill folder open from my internal hdd. I guess I must have clicked up on the internal folder saw "Reason Refills" and killed it. I will try that app you suggested though, hopefully something magical will work outeauhm wrote: Now you say its a USB flash drive. Shit man. I feel sick for you. I once had a notebook with about thirty completed sets of lyrics in it that I lost. About half I could remember partially. The rest were gone.

For example http://ntfsundelete.com/ and other like it. I used similar app 3 years ago to salvage 40 GB of deleted pics.
Whatever you do, make sure you don't write any file on the partition where you had the Reason Refill folder! That is until you recover your refills. And make sure you make room on a different partition/or hdd, so the undelete software can export your recovered refills there.

Well I just finished a deep scan with Recuva and it looks like there is zero luck in going to get to salvage it. Thanks everyone for the help/suggestions.
this is my nightmare! Good luck to you, I was also gonna recommend some recover software, tell us how this story ends. Hoping for a happy end
Edit: shit, does not sound good so far. We should organize a dropbox with some of the hard to get freebies (Maustaste etc.)

I think there still may be a chance if you try out as many different recovery tools. They don't all work the same, and there are some specialised for flash drives.K1TTENM1TTEN wrote:Well I just finished a deep scan with Recuva and it looks like there is zero luck in going to get to salvage it. Best of luck!
if u do not copy anything new onto your hardrive so that it writes over whta was originally there , u can recover everything as long as u have enough space to restore the deleted items to its original location or a backup drive.K1TTENM1TTEN wrote:I just accidentally deleted what I thought was my refill folder on my flash drive.
