"After nearly a decade of helping you make incredible music, we regret to announce that Sononics is closing up shop. It has truly been an honor working with the great people at Reason Studios and YOU the wonderful users! Revival (+ GSX) will be available for purchase through the end of August, 2022 – and at a new lower price! Sadly, Revival will be removed from the shop at the end of the day on August 31st and will no longer be available for purchase. Thank you again for a great decade of making music!

I'm confused. I thought Sononics was acquired by Audreio six years ago...

I'm guessing that while he sold the Sononics he kept the REs selling under his company name?
Revival is one of my favorite REs. I wrote him an email a long time ago about a bunch of patches that were mentioned somewhere and he sent me a whole folder of them that were almost included with the RE.
The sound engine in Revival can be pushed really, really hard. (Though I did hit the limit of only being able to control 10 things (?) via the old combinator. Maybe that is increased now?)

If you ain't hip to the rare Housequake, shut up already.
Damn.
Damn.
Adding to your guess, that's maybe why he has to stop selling them. Otherwise surely he'd just leave the stuff in the shop forever.
I can't say that the RE world will suffer too badly from those not being available. The world will keep turning.

Were the original prices higher? Those discounts seem underwhelming given the extensions will be completely unsupported in a few months (not that they’ve had any updates recently anyway).
Did you click to their front page? They are closing shop too.joeyluck wrote: ↑29 Apr 2022I'm confused. I thought Sononics was acquired by Audreio six years ago...

We are sad to say bye, but we want to be fair to our users and lately we have been unable to properly support and update Audreio. We thank all our users for giving Audreio a try, and hope that it helped improve your music making process. Audreio will remain available for download in its current version.
Revival is such a classic and unique synth to own forever

This track is done in two instances of Revival. The first is using a PSQ ratcheting combi I think I got off the forum here. and then I added a line on top of that using another Revival using the same "Heavenly Chimes" preset + some saturation.

Oh thanks. I'm still confused about the acquisition before and if it was a full one...I thought it was sold before because Sononics was bowing out. But now it sounds like it was a partnership of some sort. And if it was sold before, I wonder if they shopped it around again this time?eXode wrote: ↑29 Apr 2022Did you click to their front page? I like Revival. I feel like it would be more appealing to more customers with a better interface (better than the VST interface as well).
Maybe someday Revival will have a revival?
I've always loved Revival for it's uniqueness, you wouldn't happen to have contact details for him or know where I can get those patches? I'd be really interested in checking them out.

It also costs time and money to keep a company up and running. Even if the only activity is to occasionally sell REs, you still have to submit VAT reports, file for taxes, pay the bank for services etc. So I’m guessing that it’s probably easier for them to close down the company altogether…
I’ve always wondered why not just make them free and shut down the company - Reason Studios would have to allow this, of course, but there would be no bookkeeping etc on the dev end.buddard wrote: ↑30 Apr 2022It also costs time and money to keep a company up and running. Selig Audio, LLC
Agreed, that’s what I probably would opt for as well.selig wrote: ↑30 Apr 2022I’ve always wondered why not just make them free and shut down the company - Reason Studios would have to allow this, of course, but there would be no bookkeeping etc on the dev end.buddard wrote: ↑30 Apr 2022

I guess another possibility is another acquisition? Not all acquisitions are announced. I recall when Camel Audio was acquired by Apple, they just announced that they were shutting down. Audreio was more than just the Sononics plugins, but also inter-device, wireless audio recording.

Revival is probably my favourite RE ever. It's so special. No other RE has an fx section with that much character. It's irreplacable.
Thank you and goodbye Sononics

Yeah I had always hoped they would make a separate plugin out of the effects section.Exowildebeest wrote: ↑30 Apr 2022Revival is probably my favourite RE ever. It's so special. No other RE has an fx section with that much character. It's irreplacable.

Worth checking out the Combinator patches made by Ottostrom

How does it compare to the patches that come with Rotor?Exowildebeest wrote: ↑30 Apr 2022Revival is probably my favourite RE ever. It's so special. No other RE has an fx section with that much character. It's irreplacable

Revival's rotary speaker fx simply sounds different from Rotor. Its controls aren't as advanced, but it makes up for that in sound. I could say it sounds more lo-fi or grittier something, but it's really hard to describeTinnitus wrote: ↑01 May 2022How does it compare to the patches that come with Rotor?Exowildebeest wrote: ↑30 Apr 2022Revival is probably my favourite RE ever. The highlight for me though are the formant filters - again hard to describe, but they give me goosebumps, hit the right resonances
In combination, Revival's fx can give beautiful movement to pads.
