Hi All!
As the title says, are you trialling or have you bought Bass Line Generator?
I am trialling it. Not thoroughly used it yet but created a good bass line used in a track.
Thanks!

It reminds me of a kids toy....fun but not to be taken seriously.

I bought it and used it to feed my new Minibrute 2S with a nice Bassline.
Like the Pattern Mutator and the Panda's Players this device is perfectly suited to Explore new ways of musical expression. Those who dismiss those devices as toys merely lack the imagination, what those "toys" might be capable of, especially if combined.

It's fun. But I have the same problem with it that I have with most Players: the results lack character or any kind of idiosyncratic musicality. It's like there's a sliding scale with crazy algorithm-on-acid mayhem at one end, and boring unimaginative notation at the other, and a very narrow window for sweet spots in between that don't have that bland, generic AI-generated quality
I can fix that to some degree with CV manipulation, sending it through another Player set to an interesting scale, sticking Pattern Mutator in there somewhere, sending notes to track & then futzing around with the notes, all that business. But by that stage I might as well have just come up with a bass line on my own
Don't get me wrong, I like it and will probably end up using Rewards points to get it. But no way would I drop $69 on it

I think it's pretty cool. Should've been stock cause what they're offering for €199 isn't looking viable.

I lasted a few minutes until I got bored. While it is a pretty fast way to get sequences started, it seems more like a bit of a trap (note the small T but honestly I think they have the same meaning :-O )
Nothing against it but not if I need to pay for it (even Rewards what I would rather put to Algo or Frikto).

So far I'm finding it more fun to use making random arps in the mid to high mid range of notes than basslines. So it will def help me when I need a filler somewhere and using it with PM opens it up a bit more. Since I got it with reward points I can't really complain much about it.
was thinking this might shine used in this way... I see 69 dollars mentioned... 99 Canadian dollars here> I do not think our dollar has depreciated quite that much. I always question the difference in price for Canadian buyers. Perhaps they don't like us The difference seems a bit inflated.Chi-Individual wrote: ↑10 Dec 2021So far I'm finding it more fun to use making random arps in the mid to high mid range of notes than basslines. This thing is amazing. Hav'nt put it down since I got it....Stock piling funky basslines. Some of the built in grooves are ok.
If you've got imagination, creating Chic-style basslines is effortless...Alright I'm exaggerating, you won't be Bernard Edwards https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bernard_Edwards with this thing but you can go some of the way.

You are not alone. The current exchange rate for 69 dollars is just around 60 euros, but the price listed here is 74 euros. And I think one reward point = one dollar = one euro.... also not completely fair.

Analog tape ⇒ ESQ1 sequencer board ⇒ Atari/Steinberg Pro24 ⇒ Atari/Cubase ⇒ Cakewalk Sonar ⇒ Orion Pro/Platinum ⇒ Reaper ⇒ Reason DAW.

Well unless you are earning your points in a different currency, it should work out? You should get 5% back in points based on your currency.crimsonwarlock wrote: ↑10 Dec 2021You are not alone. Seems to get the best out of my modular rig especially neutron.opens rhythms I'd have trouble creating. Good in reason too. Cheers!!!!

There should another option: Using it via R+, which isn't trialing or buying.
That said, I'm using it via R+, and yes, I'm still enjoying this new player device.
Today I have been playing around with stacking 2 of them.

I've tried it on Hi hat...put one sample into redrum channel and set blue to short and green to longer on bass player...just don't forget to switch from decay to gate on redrum channel. Works great.

I did think, I bet somebody will point out an option I missed out haha!
Can I add that now? not as much response on this thread / poll so far either.
What vst alternatives are there to Bassline Generator out there?

There's always going to be some kind of missing option, no matter how many you put. Somebody will come along and point out what's missing. ha ha haCreativemind wrote: ↑10 Dec 2021I did think, I bet somebody will point out an option I missed out haha!

Adding options will reset the votes so far. I think you can do it if you want, though. Just go in and edit the first post.
Yes! Love this type of experimentation.
BLG is also great for coming up with melodies.
Just keep in mind that adding or editing options will reset the poll.Creativemind wrote: ↑10 Dec 2021I did think, I bet somebody will point out an option I missed out haha!

I guess it would also be interesting to know out of those who bought it, who got it with reward points.
50 votes so far.... I would just leave it. Those people aren't likely to come back and vote again; it's NOT a governmental election! ha ha ha

BLG? The wonderful abbreviate anything on the tinterweb. If it was to be abbreviated (not you taking it upon yourself to rename a product) it would be BG anyway.challism wrote: ↑10 Dec 2021There's always going to be some kind of missing option, no matter how many you put. Although I'm currently on Reason+, and installed it as soon as it showed up in Reason Companion, I also bought it. I used a $50 CDN rewards coupon to bring it down to $49 CAD. Future-proofing you might call it...

You got it all wrong; everybody knows BG stands for Brigadier General.Creativemind wrote: ↑10 Dec 2021BLG? The wonderful abbreviate anything on the tinterweb. If it was to be abbreviated (not you taking it upon yourself to rename a product) it would be BG anyway.challism wrote: ↑10 Dec 2021

Initially, I was thinking the exact same thing as you, and I wanted to call it BG. I started calling it BLG after I saw others calling it that. I just went along with it, because I didn't want to look like an asshole. ~ (* I don't think you are an asshole... that's my attempt at humor).
Looks like another poll option needs to be added: "Although I'm currently on Reason+, and installed it as soon as it showed up in Reason Companion, I also bought it"StephenHutchinson wrote: ↑11 Dec 2021Although I'm currently on Reason+, and installed it as soon as it showed up in Reason Companion, I also bought it.
