ModularRE is very useful and definitely worth the price! Just wish you could reorder the effects after you've adjusted them

when there is a sale and most of the RE's have no price tag, it's a sign I spent to much money on RE's

On the fence here...
Has anyone tried their RE3Q eq? Does it curve like the original Mäag? And are there other EQs in the RE shop that have the 40khz air band?

I bought Ivoks during Red Rock's prior sale. It's a solid RE. I like how direct and to the point it is. It quickly became one of my go-to RE's, too.

Compared to the Maag EQ4 plugin that Maag endorses from PA, its similar but not exact. But the differences are minute enough that it completely sounds like the Maag curves. Which one is more correct . . . idk, never compared them to the hardware. Half of my "audio" friends don't know what Maag is

The only thing I feel is a blessing and a curse is not having stepped values. I've gotten so use to the Maag EQ4 0.5 dB increments that it feels like I'm not getting the same response from RRS cause of the continuous dials.

The RP-EQ from Rob Papen has an Air section which lets you boost at 40khz

Red Rock makes great stuff. Very useful for mixing.
The 33609 emulation is a nice different flavor for the master bus compared to the SSL. The SSL is preferred when I need something a bit snappier while remaining smooth. The 33609 is nice for music with less "pump" and this emulation can get pretty snappy as well (which I don't prefer, but it's there if needed). I think that the attack times are a bit quicker than other 33609 emus I have, so make changes if necessary. I also don't mind the lack of the "Auto" release feature, as I find dialing in the release times more useful.

The API EQ's are helpful for the API curves when needed. It's a useful tool, with an attractive UI.

The RE3Q is useful for broad cuts and sweeps. Sometimes I'm just stuck in a mix, trying to fit a square into a round hole, and the RE3Q helps me sometimes. The AIR band is what's most popular about the EQ its supposedly modeling, and it works great. I have the PA Maag plugin, and there's no need to pull up the PA VST when I have this.

The Exciter helps get "AIR" in another way, but can be easily overdone. I like its flexibility in selecting the frequency for AIR and the Even/Odd order harmonics. This can be done with the Selig EQ as well. The Mix knob is a must for using the Exciter appropriately.

Finally, the ModulaRE. I don't find the DeEsser as useful as I had hoped, so I go to the Selig DeEsser most of the time. The Colorizer and Saturator gets the most action. If I need the AIR band of the RE3Q, I'll just pull up a module. I'll use the API 560 emu when needed as well.

Thanks! Great to have some options to compare to. I gravitate towards single-use devices, so I'll have to go with RedRock for the UI and the price on this one. Hell, the UI seems better than on the original Maag.

I've always thought that it's one of the best looking REs! Can't justify buying it tho when I own ModularRE which has the same unit (except for the sub band is gone) in it.

Curious what everyone's thoughts are on Red70? It's been around for ages... I don't hear much about it anymore.

The synth is good and the XMOD is quite interesting. Today its a bit dated. Not a uber synth.
Didn't used it much.

Aaaaand Biritsh EQ A is on sale once again, even more affordable than recently. Already got Softube´s Trident yet I like the punchiness of Red Rock´s Version in comparison. Adds an intensifying touch where needed.
Thank you Red Rock for creating beautiful yet affordable devices. 💜
