Does anyone know if such a device exists to take a bi-polar signal and rectify it to get the resulting waveform, pictured above? I am trying to offset and scale some signals (usually LFO's) such that they are positive only, and while I thought I had some tools to do that, I think the easiest way would be to take a bipolar signal and rectify it such that it's positive only.

Thoughts?

Too often a unipolar signal is simply truncated to a half-wave rectification, where any negative signal in an LFO just stays at 0 until it rises above 0 again, as pictured above.

You can try this one, its pretty mighty and can do a lot of weird wave shaping stuff:

Thor to the rescue (again)!
The Shaper in Thor has a rectifier, you just have to use a note or the sequencer to keep the "voice" on so you can pass audio through it. Also, in the mod matrix use the input for Filter 1, and the output for the Shaper to patch it all up (using the CV I/O for an LFO).
For full wave rectification use max Drive, half wave rectify with a drive of 64 (half!).

Dope! I'm using RB's CV-I/CV-O for the conversion of CV to audio and back, but is that even needed?

The sequencer works well to keep the global envelope open, targeting the AMP section. Put it on loop with full sustain and the sequencer note lengths to 100%, and it is open as long as Reason is playing.

That Elements RE looks even easier, and probably less CPU load.

 Because distortion nerds need dedicated devices. :geek:

Meh....maybe, if I could put combinators inside of combinators.

Till then...RE FTW!!!

Thor is a swiss-army knife, well worth getting to know for more than just being a synth.

You can also use Equation Jr to do this (just take absolute value of the input):

But only the Thor solution can modulate the rectification between full and half and none! Which of course is the first thing I did after checking the basic functions before posting here, which then led to a song idea - such is my typical experience using Reason. :)

I really wish they would redo the look of their RE's. They look like a small child did the graphics for Equation Jr. I hate to judge a book by its cover, but presentation in this world does mean something.

I actually love the look of The Chronologists REs, but fucked if I can work out how to use them properly

My suggestion is to do it the modular way. It's free. I've never tried it with Reason but have with hardware, should work fine.

Split the signal.
Invert one of the signals.
Half-wave rectify both signals separately.
Recombine.

Yeah, that could be an interesting way of doing it.
