2 essentials straight off would be Selig's De-Esser and Gain Re's. Reason doesn't have a decent (well any) metering tool and the Selig De-Esser is excellent.

Free

- Little LFO (not only for LFO madness but a playable 4 Oscillator FM-Synth for freaky sounds)

- Rostnomo Randomsynth (ridicioulusly inspiring randomsynth generator for soundfinding/generation purposes)

- D1-RT Line Noise Injector (very good sounding hiss/hum/vinyl noise generator)

- Modrack Noise (simple 7 colour noisegenerator, brings the noise)

- PCM2612 Retro Decimator Unit (clangy clean sounding 8-bit crusher)

- Janitor CV Shaper (well organised, easy to read, easy to handle)

- Morphin XF CrossFader (one Fader, many blendmodes)

- Anansi (Mid-Sid-Router with a balancing option, got a merger/splitter/monocheck onboard)

- A/B Switch (very simple switch for A/B-ing audio + cv)

- RPSpec Spectrogram (an analyser in the rack)

- CVA-7 CV Analyzer (CV-Oscilloscope with keyboard and gate value indicators)

- SKOPE (a scope for audio + cv)

To buy

- BlueDepth Epic Reverb Effect (Lush experimental oceanic dual reverb for soundscape/reverberating explorations)-

- D-Filter (Phat 2-in-1 Philter with up to 192db/oct slopes)

- RE-2A (present yet smooth compression, very good on busses)

- A-Series 1/2 Modular Synth (two little funky modular rack devices for a sweet little modular synth)

- DCAM Envelopeshaper (Easy transient designer, nothing really spectacular, very useful) -

- Selig´s Gain (2 mode mixing-channel-like fader for quick in rack level adjustments with proper 2 knob multi-panlawable stereopanning and some additional shizzle)

- BZR-1Chaotic Signal Generator (great CV-Source)

- DR-1 Deep Reverb

- 90s Vintage Phaser

- Flower Audio Loudness Meter

Selig Gain. It’s so fundamentally useful and well thought out that it should be included with every version of Reason as a stock device.

It depends on the type of music I am doing at the time. However my favorite is not an RE but the combinator because I alway like taking two or three instruments with effects and creating new things not found. I’m from the 70’s where everyone sounded different and the combinator allows me to have that difference among many RE’s. L

Glad I could pick up this one of a kind RE, before the unforeseen issues.

I'd get Drums first, then Synths, and the utilities.

Drums stix computer (it's new, no videos yet)
Boom 808
Knock mixfood , probably my first choice for the insane patterns variations included.
Umpf 1-2
Reason Drums (nice acoustics drums).
Jackbox Linndrum, 707, 909.
SYNR Drum Synthesizer
Make noise Basimilus Iteritas
others.

Midi CV converter util is a must have.

Synths is really down to your tastes.
I'd say VK-1 for a starter, but you need to know how much of cv stuff you want to use.
There's less CV intense Synths that are better for inspiration, Rostnomo is
free and can give you an idea of what I mean.

There are a few REs and Refills no longer available that I missed out on.

But I'd not feel comfortable using any of his REs.

I always said you cant go wrong with the 3 S's: Synapse, Softube and Selig

However there are a lot of other great developers out there too. McDSP compressors and EQ's are some of my most used that immediately come to mind.

The Kilohearts Limiter (free) is pretty handy. Can use it as a clear limiter or push it harder to squash/glue elements together.

I missed out ReStrings. That should definitely be in there. I’ve not picked up ChmaberTron yet. I will at some point though

Post Today

When I start organizing in a project (usually long after the project started, hours/days later haha), the #1 absolute most used RE is

Spacre Blank Plate by PEFF

https://www.reasonstudios.com/shop/rack ... ank-plate/

That's my 'must have'.

Then, in no particular order:

Chenille Chorus Ensemble (Jiggery Pokery)
Steerpike BBD Delay Ensemble (Jiggery Pokery)
Selig Gain
Selig Leveler

The Selig utilities could do with a facelift. I don't know if that's a big job to simply update the GUIs with all the same features as before. Either way, they have a very specific job to do, and they do it well. Great RE's !
