Setting "Release" to 0 in sample parameters should do the trick. Unless I'm misunderstanding what you're asking for.

Curiously it does not, the note does does not cut off (volume) when the note ends in the sequencer, I don't know if I'm doing something wrong but the attack hold release just seems to manipulate the sample it self, not the amplitude like ASDR from a sequencer trigger

I don't think Umpf works like this, Redrum behaves the same. They only ever react to a note on to trigger a hit. The sample lasts as long as the sample, not the note.

Use a VCA after the Umpf or directly control the level of the mix channel with the same gate data you use for trigging Umpf..

Yes I have done this with automation on the volume of the sample but was wondering if something more easy (built in), for drums its useful when you want a cymbal stop or something.

Yes I have done this with automation on the volume of the sample but was wondering if something more easy (built in), for drums its useful when you want a cymbal stop or something.

Using CV it will be automatic and no need to write out automation.

Can you give me a quick pointer how to set this up?

Janitor gives you good control as you can control the decay via CV.
Murf ADSR is good is you want more of a shape.
If you want a square gate Thor Step sequencer is good for that, trigger the Run in Step mode and set the length.
These are all free.


Panda's Shape or Frame CV are great paid device for this sort of thing.

Another less intuitive approach is to use a Combinator and mod wheel or similar assigned to HOLD, which allows you to control the length and create short or long notes.

You could even trigger Europa to create some custom drawn envelope, send that from it's CV out etc.
The possibilities are endless D;
