Relocating RE sound files to a different drive?

Ah yes, that age old question, can you relocate the sound files for REs to a different drive to free up space on your main one? On a mac, I just tried using an alias, but it didn't work. A Google search only coughed up tricky-looking solutions for PC users only. Anyone have any ideas here?

I have an idea: wait for Reason 25 to be released with this feature.

It would be wonderful to be able to do this. It would also be nice to have the option of FSB installed. I'm not sure why Reason must have those files in order to run. I get that it used to be a way for them (to try) to protect against piracy in the early days, but since R6, this hasn't been the case.
Players are to MIDI what synthesizers are to waveforms.

Yes, using symlinks - both on PC or macOS.

This is a great tool that makes it easy on Windows. I've no idea for equivalent macOS, though:
