PX7 is lovely but again

There are no "200,000 DX7 sounds"

That was just a lie, like the song goes.

Fixed it for you all with my free PX7 refill.

Hmm. Why discontinue this? If its going to be added to Reason standard, then why haven't Synchronous and Polar been discontinued? Another possibility is that RS are working on a new FM synth and didn't want PX7 treading on its toes...

Why other DX-clones live without problems?
Why other 303-clones live without problems?
Maybe tomorrow come lawyer for Reason's word?

      Stupid situation.

They had to remove ReBirth because of Roland copyright thing, is PX7 similar case but with Yamaha? Or maybe in advance to prevent any such troubles? Anyhow, RS seems to do some cleanup and preperation, it shows something is soon on the way... (R12?)

Dexed is a DX7 type VST that's free. If you didn't know about it, and are desperate for the DX7 sound.

Yamaha years ago buy Line6. As we know, Line6 devices in Reason after this - was been discontinued.
Now we have second stage of Yamaha vs PH/RS (may be!).

      So Yamaha = Line 6 / PH remove Line6
Yamaha = DX7 / RS remove PX7. So.. may be because PX7 used original factory presets from the DX7 that been converted, but this presets be the part of intellectual property by Yamaha?
Dexed in this way - just a free product with not the better user-friendly interface

Of course we dont know the truth. But its very interesting story how product that been at wishlist of many users is rip at one day. Without any info.

Market reasons is my guess, every company looking out for their own survival these days when music market might be a bit saturated.

Since there has become a big retro synth trend, Roland wanted to re-release some new retro replicants of their old popular devices. Suddenly RS had to take down their ReBirth app.

Yamaha has lately done the same nostalgic trip back to the future with smaller sized synths of their legacy catalogue.

Arturia and Behringer and other companies, maybe they pay some patent fee to the original synth companies?

My guess is that RS gets an ultimatum to either pay fees or take it away. And the fee probably is higher than people buying the RE.

And as we know, Yamaha owns both Line6 as well as Steinberg (since 2005).

I have the theory that it will not be compatible with the new version of reason and that is why they eliminated it ... will they give another Re in exchange to those who have bought it?
      let's play guessing !!!

      I think so.
There can’t be any royalties or anything like that with Yamaha since there are no more exclusive patents, the name is not the same, nor the look, etc. It’s not at all like Rebirth (and PH had an agreement with Roland at the time, so they know that kind of problem)

Maybe they couldn't get it to work with Apple silicon without extensive rewrite.

It's weird move but we do not know the reason behind it. Good that I can still use PX7 as it did not vanished from my account.
I hope there will be some kind of FM synth from RS.
If this was up to me, I would setup cooperation with Elektron (both are from Sweden) to bring Digitone FM engine to Reason.

Yeah good point. But yet Synchronous and Polar remain available? Bit weird. If I was to be very slightly cynical in my unfounded speculation I might say that RS were scratching around to find things to stuff into a somewhat meager 11.5 offering to bridge the gap until R12 shows up.
