Oh well.. saw Mattias comment after my own post

There was a many other cool REs during sales (incl. recently like Pattern Mutator) and if i could know that px will remove i would grab it first.
Here not exactly complain that it was removed, but why it was impossible to just warn as with guitars.
Would it be possible to keep (or rather get back) the product icons on this page for the removed REs? Also I'd really like to have links to the manuals of those REs accessible from that page.MattiasHG wrote: ↑19 Jan 2021PX7 was actually not developed in-house, similar to the A-List series, and we decided to discontinue it for licensing reasons. It'll continue to work for all of you that's bought it, of course. REs are designed to work forever for all owners, regardless of what happens with the product and developer. One of the very best features of the format, in my opinion!
I've never had the patience for FM but, perhaps weirdly, I do quite like Flow Motion. In my hands it's somewhat unpredictable and sometimes harsh sounding but that is not always a bad thing. But I still think FM synthesis is the work of the devil..
Yes please to a 'Propellerised' FM synth - ie something with an approachable GUI but plenty of power if you dig into it.
Much in the way Complex-1 is a streamlined version of modular synths that can yeild great results super easily.
Dx7 compatibility I couldn't care less about as I've got Dexed for that.

I always wondered why PX7 wasn't included in Reason Suite and I guess the shenanigans that have now gone on with it perhaps explain that somewhat.
Bizarrely the RE itself is still listed on here: https://www.reasonstudios.com/rent-to-own so it hasn't been taken down very thoroughly from the shop!
With the A-List guitars I can understand them being removed due to an agreement with UJAM. And with Ozone being removed, I can understand that because the algorithm is old and the VST versions are far superior.
But the removal if PX7 is a mystery, unless a new Reason Studios FM synth announcement is imminent. I just don't understand why it would be removed when it's an in-house Propellerhead synth that could still be generating them revenue right up until they replace it (if that's the plan) with RX7 or whatever.
Very strange.

You can still buy it on ebayDecafDreams wrote: ↑20 Jan 2021I always wondered why PX7 wasn't included in Reason Suite and I guess the shenanigans that have now gone on with it perhaps explain that somewhat.

Reason12, Win10
Even UVI released "PX Memories" as a homage to PX7
My simple wish for the perfect Swedish FM dish: Elektron + Reason Studios.

I mentioned in another comment, but some of my favorite patches just don't sound the the same or as good on Dexed. So I would love to see PX7 make a comeback! Contrary to what some others have said, it is one of my favorite GUIs.MattiasHG wrote: ↑19 Jan 2021Sorry for not commenting on this sooner! To save you any speculations, other REs we've developed with a partner (like the amazing Robotic Bean and Lectric Panda) have different terms and there's no reason they'll ever be discontinued.
If you missed it but still want a DX7 sound, I can recommend the free, Open Source Dexed VST: https://asb2m10.github.io/dexed/
Also two of my favorite ReFills are for PX7; Neo DX by Nucleus Soundlab and Navi's PX7 ReFill. Would it be possible to make a converter the other direction? Converting PX7 device patches to use in other DX emulations? Then those ReFills could still have some life for new users.
Dexed also doesn't have the macro sliders which are incredibly handy. Even if RS made their own FM synth, I would hope it could also load DX/PX7 patches.
We agree!!hurricane wrote: ↑19 Jan 2021Interesting to see that a lot of you would have purchased PX7 had you known it was going to go away. Scarcity sales tactic doing it's magic. You guys had YEARS to buy it, yet you didn't.
Some of us fans of the DX-7 and FM synthesis purchased PX-7 a long time ago. But I think it wasn't "propellerheady" enough for some of you. I mean if you look at it now, it's basically Dexed in RE format with zero bells and whistles. So going forward if they chose to make their own FM synth, I really hope they go for the jugular and set off on creating a monster and modern FM synth, not limiting it to being a bare bones DX-7 emulation, but still retaining the authentic DX sound. I'm thinking more along the lines of FM8 than say, Arturia's DX or Waves' Flow Motion (I don't particularly like Flow Motion).
Apart from whatever 'modern' things they'd like to implement, I'd love for them to include some classic things like the ability to layer patches within the RE ala the DX7II as well as being able to load/import waveforms for a wider sound palette. I'd also love for them to not be bound by the structure of retro FM synths and include ADSR envelopes and a master filter section. The cherry on top would be an onboard (so we can save it with the patch) Juno-like chorus because a good chorus makes DX sounds shine. A Unison mode would also be welcome, with a stereo spread of course. A simple arpeggiator and step sequencer would be cool too. It would be nice to be able to create and save some slick 80s sequences in a patch. Kind of like the step sequencer in Obsession.
What I absolutely do not want is one of those basic A/B romplers currently vomiting out of NI's mouth.
Dexed macros are easily done with ...

Ah, I missed that! Out of interest, do we know who the third party was that developed PX7 for them? There's no logos or hints on the back of the RE like there are on their other partnered products...joeyluck wrote: ↑20 Jan 2021MattiasHG wrote: ↑19 Jan 2021Sorry for not commenting on this sooner! Hopefully the sequencer hasn’t been developed via a 3rd party contractor

One thing about the comment that it would be available forever for those who bought it - how does that fit with M1 Mac compatibility. Presumably Reason and all REs will eventually have to be recompiled or even rewritten to work efficiently with those - as DAWs, VSTs and Audio Units from other companies are?
Reason and REs can't just be limited to run under Rosetta 2 forever, as that would severely reduce their performance on M1 Macs, compared to running native M1-compatible versions. That would leave RS in the dust compared to other DAWs and plugins that move to native M1 series chip compatibility.
Let's hope that new or future Mac users won't be disadvantaged as a result of this. Although if they bring out something akin to the FM engine of an SY99 that's future-proof, then by al means take my money!

RE developers submit platform-independent source code which is then compiled on Reason Studios’ servers, an arrangement tailor-made for situations such as this. When Reason gains support for Apple Silicon, RS will configure a new build target for the build servers and the entire library of REs will become M1-native overnight.Fraxis wrote: ↑22 Jan 2021One thing about the comment that it would be available forever for those who bought it - how does that fit with M1 Mac compatibility. It's the platform itself that will be made compatible with future operating systems, not individual RE's.
