I've got the Reason sequencer set to 3/4 and 90 BPM. I've got a waltz thing going on...you know 1,2,3 1,2,3 etc.
I've got Evolution on a bass instrument. I set the rate on Evolution to 3/4 and I can see the steps moving intime to the sequencer click. I want it to go twice as fast. 3/8 or 6/8 or 6/4 isn't doing it for me I've tried triplets and all sorts of stuff. Can someone please tell me how to get it to run to a waltz beat faster than 3/4. Maybe 3/4 isn't waltz...it's the 1,2,3 thing I'm after.

Have you tried to bounce the midi a half it with the tool menu?

There’s no midi. I’ve got the click track 1,2,3 1,2,3
And I can get the sequencer on Evolution to match that beat. I just want it to go twice as fast.

I want the tempo at 90bpm. I want the tempo on Evolution doubled.

I think you're going to have to pick one of those, but I am really curious what you're doing now.

Please tell me more MrFigg.

I don’t know what Evolution is, but if you’ve already got the right tempo and meter in the sequencer, maybe you need to be using multiples of 2 in the device, instead of more multiples of 3? so set it to ¼ or ⅛ or 1/16 maybe?

it’s hard to say how to fix it without being able to see what you’re doing.

I just don’t understand why when the rate on Evolution is set at 6/8 it doesn’t go twice as fast as when it’s set to 3/4. It goes half the speed instead.

Lectric Panda player. I can’t seem to find anything other than 3/4 that stats in time with the click track for some reason. See above.

I'm pretty certain that this is the answer :- viewtopic.php?p=532209#p532209

Or this :- viewtopic.php?p=532215#p532215

yep, I did see above. all the options you listed trying in the device are multiples of 3, not 2. you’re already dividing everything into ¾ in the sequencer. subdividing further by 3 may be why you’re getting weird stuff that seems like it doesn’t line up. sounds like you might be setting up some kind of nested tuplets or something, when that’s not what you want.

That’s interesting. Thanks. I’m still convinced it’s possible to do it within Evolution though. I will however use your tip for other stuff. I didn’t know about that.

to try to put my last comment a bit more simply, you’ve already split the measure into thirds in the sequencer (3 1/4 notes). if your device is dividing those thirds, each of those thirds is split into 3 again, so you may be ending up with 9 subdivisions in a measure (would be 1/4 note triplets, I think). what you’re looking for is 6 eighth notes.

what I’m suggesting is that you should try setting the device so it doesn’t have a 3 or 6 as that first number (e.g. don’t use a 3/4 or 6/8, etc.).

Thanks man. Exactly that. I am looking for 6/8 and I understand what you mean. Totally correct. I’ve tried all the possible time signatures though and I can’t get it. There’s another box in the bottoms left where you can set time signatures. I really need to RTFM. I’ll do that and see what I come up with.

I've noticed that some of the players don't "play nice" (ie get along) with time signatures other than standard 4/4. Drum Sequencer is one that comes to mind that I've noticed. It has a terrible glitchy kind of bug when in 3/4 time.

Anyway, when the player's rate (sometimes called resolution) is set to 1/8, it is playing 8th notes at a certain speed, it has to do with the song's tempo, not the time signature. For instance, if you set the player's rate to 1/4 it would play quarter notes (time signature set to 3/4 on the transport would give you 3 of these quarter notes per bar). If you want to affect the way the player plays in a different time signature, you need to adjust the length of the phrase (number of notes/steps in the player's pattern/sequencer). For 3/4 time, you need to have a number divisible by 3. So if you have a length of 9, that would give you 3 bars of notes at 1/4 rate.

And if all else fails... bounce to track and manually adjust the notes.

You should set the steps in Evolution to 24.
Reason time signature should be 6/8.

I am attaching a screen grab.

Thanks. That looks like it might be right. I want the metronome click to be 3/4 though. 6/8 for the click is too fast for me. Any way round that?
