Hey ya'll, apologies for the noob question but I can't find an answer and I'm assuming it should be simple enough. I just heard you can install Reason and use it as a rack plugin in other DAWS, namely Ableton live.

I used to use Reason way back when, before Ableton, so would love to give this a try. I've installed the 30 day trial of Reason to give it a go but I can't for the life of me find where the rack plugin VST actually gets installed?

Any tips would be greatly appreciated, cheers!!

Hi there,

If you're on Windows it installs under:

C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3\Reason Rack Plugin.vst3

Dunno about Mac.

Cheers,
Brian

On a mac it is in:

‎⁨Macintosh HD⁩ ▸ ⁨Library⁩ ▸ ⁨Audio⁩ ▸ ⁨Plug-Ins⁩ ▸ ⁨VST3⁩

so, I tried to do some cleanup on my C drive yesterday, and somehow managed to remove the RRP. is there a way to install the RRP without having to do a full reinstall? (Reason 11, if it makes any difference.)

It makes a huge difference, since RRP wasn't even a thing until 11.

I don't think you can install it without reinstalling the full program, no. The full program isn't *that* big, though (at least it isn't 10GB, right?).

Players are to MIDI what synthesizers are to waveforms.

Did you empty the trash?

If you didn't try restoring the files from the bin...

good point—I just meant I’m not using R+. that’s what I’ll do, then. I wasn’t sure if maybe there was another way, but guess not. thanks!

that was the first place I looked. the only Reason-related files in there were for the AAX version though.

Sounds like your going to have to do a full install again then as I think that's the only way you get presented with the options.

Unless there are undocumented setup / install parameters
For example
Setup.exe /install vst aax au

Might be worth contacting support.
