I'm curious, if Red Rock will update the Exciter with the new UI too.
Yes, they did.

Sorry to labour this but is this RE causing problems for everyone on Reason 10? I’m not really wanting to download the update if it’s just going to crash stuff. Thanks.

Edit: I'll answer my own question. Just downloaded the new versions and everything seems to work fine.

ah dang, I wish there were an option to toggle between the two. I just bought the Exciter, and I like BOTH UIs. good problem to have, I suppose! 😄 probably wait and enjoy the old skin for a while before updating.

Isn't the bottom on slightly, slightly lighter grey than the top one? If you look really, really closely...

the old versions were the same color, no?

lots of hardware stuff in the same line is the same color (the API 550 A and B) are the first that immediately come to mind. is it really that confusing?

Yeah you're right they should color all their devices the exact same. They should make them all look very similar too. Might as well remove all the colors from Reason's color palette and just leave the plain grey. I love when everything is the same color. Especially light grey. Color is so boring. GUI design would be so much easier if they just settled on one color and were done with it. I don't know why people waste their time coloring things anyway. Especially software - I mean, it's just software, no one cares how it looks.

Do you really think my main issue is getting the two confused? :puf_wink:

I honestly didn’t know what your main issue was. I guess you just want a more colorful rack, which is something I enjoy myself. I just don’t see one developer deciding to use the same color scheme (or lack thereof) for two devices in the same line as being remarkable or worthy of complaint, that’s all.

now if they ALL started to put out devices that looked just like this, then hell yeah, I’d polish up the ol’ pitchfork.

I loved the look of the original. Had a vintage studio / lab equipment look to it.

But the new one does looks very good & more practical

Just re-discover this RE that i hadn't used for a long while. It works very well to get a perfect low end to bass guitars. This will be a go-to for my bass playing.

I was really hoping Red Rock would have done a proper 2.0 version of this and added a sub-harmonic synth feature to complement its existing features. For $35, it just seems like a waste of money when I can use Metric Halo's free "Thump" VST that's been out for over 7 years (yeah, I know it's not pretty - but feature-wise I feel this is a much cooler "bass enhancer" IMHO - though Thump is geared more towards percussive bass enhacement):

Thanks. I'm guessing that that's where the issue lies with this RE. I'm on Windows and so far it seems to be working without any problems.

Haha...Windows is the way to go. No matter how much you may hate Microsoft.

I know, so you don't get them confused in the rack at first glance. Are Re's able to have changeable colours now within the Re, I mean selectable by the user?

The new skins do look nice but I like the original more. "Vintage" not sure if I want to update.

Yes. There’s an RE synth that does this - can’t remember which one though.
