Fantastic overview / demo of Bitspeak from Sonic Charge by ‘One Upon a Synth’. This is for the VST version but I think the Rack Extension is pretty much identical. Makes me want to buy this RE, finally! Also makes me wish Sonic Charge was still making RE’s. Oh well, we can always use the VST’s.

The VST is about 20 quid cheaper too, which leaves me a little conflicted.

If there is a RE version and a VST then I prefer to get the RE, but if the VST is that much cheaper then I'm actually more likely to go buy something else than unnecessarily add more VST's to the rack. Thus it's a "no buy" for me, for now at least.

I might see if I can email to plead for a sale of BitSpeak & Echobode in the Season of Reason sale :D I've always wanted BitSpeak. Just never got around to buying it. I think it's been on sale before but I could be wrong. It's been around a long time. I think this was in the shop day 1 of Rack Extensions if I remember correctly.

It hasn't ever been on sale. In fact, Sonic Charge never does sales. On Black Friday, instead of having a sale, they donate all of the earnings from their shop to the World Wildlife Fund.

They do discounts for students and they have their VST bundle which helps to save money. I own both of their REs and the VST bundle. After buying both of the REs, and when Reason added VST support, I wanted all of their other plugins: Synplant, Microtonic, and Permut8, which individually priced total $264. The VST bundle is $255, which also includes Echobode and Bitspeek. Again, both of which I already had in RE format, but Echobode VST offers a few more features, so it was nice to have that as well. Their plugins are very innovative and are priced very well.

While the Echobode VST has more to offer than the RE, The Bitspeek RE has more than the VST... Particularly the benefit of CV and doing fun things like audio to CV to control synths like Subtractor with your voice (Combinator patches included in the RE folder). I also really like using it along with Distributor. Here's a patch I made: viewtopic.php?p=278842

So if it's something you're interested in, it's really great and rest assured that you haven't missed a sale nor will you miss a sale.

If you wanna do funky voices it is a must have and it is unique as it takes an audio input, everything else is type in text type of stuff. Do not hesitate.

I got BitSpeak as part of a rig bundle (forgot which one) and I love it. SonicCharge puts out such amazing stuff (both Echobode and BitSpeek are great REs). For those who don't know, SonciCharge is a company from the same (legendary) man who brought us Reason's Malstrom. Too bad he isn't making REs anymore. Looks like he hasn't come out with much new stuff in the VST world, either. Maybe he is busy dreaming up the next game changer. I also own and love Permut8 and Synplant by SonciCharge. Those are amazing, too, and well worth checking out. There's a 3 week trial on all their VSTs (and 30 days for the REs). https://soniccharge.com/

Thanks for the heads up on the new point updates to Speak & Tweak. I had always overlooked this because it was just text, but since they added audio input, I might have a closer look and try it out. I see it's on sale for $9 right now. https://www.reasonstudios.com/shop/rack-extension/st-1/
Players are to MIDI what synthesizers are to waveforms.

Okay. Good to hear. If that's the case I'm buying it tonight. Classic RE. Has to be done. Wish he was still making RE's :(

Just in case you don’t know, Echobode is really a brilliant device. I got the VST over the RE (which is usually something I wouldn’t do). It’s a very versatile effect. Totally recommend it.

I got Echobode on day 1. I think it had an intro price. Brilliant RE. Fun to use, creative, versatile. A classic RE if ever there was one. Would love to see more SonicCharge RE's but seems I think that boat has long since sailed. Very talented. Some great devices including (as someone mentioned earlier) Reason's own Maelstrom synth.

lol. It does look like a very specific effect. I did TRY some years ago. I liked it a lot but didn't think it would get a great amount of use for the price. But I was really impressed with the 'Once Upon a Synth' demo. I'd never seen the device explored so thoroughly with great demonstration. Sold it for me & it is the sort of creative effect I tend to go for. Just haven't wanted to shell out $50 (US) for it until now. It's currently $72(AUS) but bugger it, just had a little leave bonus from work so I'm buying anyway ;)

AFAIK it IS still text based, so the audio in just does some vocoding from the text, but it sounds like crap. So, if I was incorrect, how do you use it, and how do you make it sound ok?

Well, I thought I was missing something, but the KILLER feature of Bitspeek is that you can take any audio file and turn it into, well, bit-speek, and it sounds awesome, play your own midi transpositions too change the original melodiy.

had bought the other one on sale the other day and hoped it might do what you state bitspeak does... still have not had time to muck around with it yet. Revoicer looks interesting as well.
