I also bought Complex-1. It is both simple and complex RE. But it is easy to work with.
Maybe they should've called it Simplex-1, or Compimple-1 LOL

I think our chemist sells cream to treat Compimple-1.

Forgive me if this has been discussed in another thread. I saw someone asking about Complex-1/Bazille comparison. And it made me think about Arturia's Moog Modular synth, which looks like a beast. I'm curious if anyone has compared Complex-1 to Arturia Moog Modular V and what your thoughts are. Thanks!~

Complex-1 is based on the less common "West Coast synthesis," drawing from Buchla, while Modular V is based on the more common "East Coast synthesis," drawing from Moog. I think part of the reason Complex-1 may have been more intimidating to Reason users is just the lack of familiarity with the West Coast model, since everything else in Reason (and most of the VST world, not to mention hardware) draws its lineage back to East Coast synthesis.

The Moog sounds very good and it has a lot of possibilities and modulation options. But tbh i get quickly lost in the Moog. I got more quickly used to Complex. They have probably something in common but can also sound very different imo. For me the Moog sounds smoother on modulations.

What I like about Complex-1 vs VCV rack is that it fits on my laptop screen nicely. VCV modules are huge.
VCV Rack has a zoom function so you can adjust for this.

Lolz! Unless you're trying to use it as a word processor, there is no 'proper! way to use it?

Open ended synthesis rules, just like nachos!

Lol! What I meant is that someday I'll learn to use it, as in mastering the device to make the stuff I set out to make within it.

Here is the manual how i use it:
1. Drag every cable into everywhere it fits
2. Repeat step 1

I was watching a trailer from a movie called Andromeda (1971) and had to think of complex-1 after seeing this thing in the trailer...

I still don’t get why when having cables shown, knob motion feels slower. When cables are hidden, the knobs are as smooth as can be :)

Please propellerhead, complex-2 should have two user oscillators basic pwm and some kind of phase warping. I suppose I’m passed the point of being okay with the standard waveforms
that’s my one problem with the oscillators, since expanse came out with user tables last year or so, I have a hard time not wanting to use my own table creations

You can just send any sound in the back right, why not send a synth into Complex , and a gate/note from Complex back

Yes ! This bothers me too, bro. Also faders are jumping out of their position if you click on the handle (viewtopic.php?f=7&t=7511385&p=436948#p436948).

But as you said in the hidden cables mode everything is ok

True, I usually do this when I have the time for madness :)

However I’m finding that I’m using synths that allow user shapes and tables,

I did like using Europa through complex 1s audio chain. It was awesome because you actually can play chords without the modular know how.

I’m still hoping the term complex -1 means that there will be a 2. But based off of other modular gear. The fact that complex -1 was even a thing is mind blowing. I think propellerhead really nailed it as far as a fairly free modular synth inside of a semi modular world :)

I still have the hope that it will be added in the sale extension that we’ve seen a few times now... I guess we’ll have to see... ;)
