Bring back RE-2A
I've brought this up with Props and Cakewalk's new owners already, but I doubt it will happen unless they hear from some of you guys too - since all of Cakewalk's IP has been acquired why can't they make a deal with Propellerhead to put RE-2A back in the shop? In every thread about desert island / favorite REs it's one of the most frequently cited rack extensions. I understand many of you already have it, but those of you who don't let's keep asking them to bring it back.

IK Multimedia's compressor "White" is really good. Great alterative of you need something now.

10% off at Waves with link: https://www.waves.com/r/6gh2b0

Just wait until the next time Waves CLA-2A goes on sale for $29 and grab that. It's one of a number of perfectly decent LA-2A emulations out there
yes, yes, yes, yes, yes.
I already own the Cakewalk one, but it would be a kickass thing if Props built their own version and included it in Reason 11 for everyone.
That is a great idea to include it as a stock device. What if Props bought it and rebranded it? That could totally work. Props, I know you read these forums. Is this a possibility?

If nothing else, Propellerhead could acquire it from BandLab and just sell it as a Propellerhead device on the store. I doubt BandLab has a plan for it, so they'd probably sell it for a song.

Yes I love it. Instand classic. Much better than Waves version.
There are only a handful of devices that have remained hugely popular over decade after decade of audio production as stand out “must haves”, and the LA-2a is most certainly one of them.
To not consider these now-standard tools as needing to be included in any music making software is an oversight IMO.

I'd love to see it make a comeback so new users can get it. I grabbed it ages ago, and I'm really glad I did.
I really feel bad for those who missed it when it was just given away at the end. I already had it, so that wasn't of any use to me. But what an amazing RE to get for free. The fact that they just gave it away before they decided to pull the thing from the shop makes me think that Props could probably buy it from them for really, really cheap and rebrand it.
Why not, Props?

I don't remember it ever being free... I purchased the Mix Bundle right before it was pulled and remember checking the price, which is how I got it right before the deadline.challism wrote: ↑19 Mar 2019I really feel bad for those who missed it when it was just given away at the end. Yep it was. About a month before they went under they were giving the vst version away for free for people who created accounts with them, to which they also allowed us to request the RE version. It was easy to miss if you weren't on this forum at the time as I'm not sure if other communities were aware. I got both the VST and RE for free.botnotbot wrote: ↑26 Mar 2019I don't remember it ever being free... Dang, that's nice! It really is a useful compressor.QVprod wrote: ↑26 Mar 2019Yep it was. Shouldn't a push for this to happen to BandLab instead? It is not PH's IP after all.
Personally I would rather see a switchable EQ/DYN section on the mixer. Baked in the mixer rather than another RE floating in the rack. I would love to see a way to flip each section the way we flip from the front to the back of the rack, but this time it would be another flavor of your favorite compressors, etc. You could compare them on the fly and see what would fit better with the material at hand.

I might be mistaken, but doesn't it exist now in Cakewalk as a built-in effect?
I agree having the plug-in available again would be great. It's one of my favorites. But maybe there's reasons they don't want to jump on offering it separately and want to draw people to the DAW they are offering for free?

I don't think the people responsible for RE-2A are with Bandlab. It's a VST that is included in Bandlab. Is it that much better than the Waves or IK version?

I tested it against the Waves version and the Waves version doesn't have that midrange compression the RE-2A creates. Sounds totally different.
I have RE2A Leveling Amplifier in my products RE list but i gladly would be exchange it to Spectral Scan 4PhaseLFO RE (from someone user who has it, but not have re2a), which was removed from shop as well.
Very bad that no such an ability

I picked up the RE-2A right around when it was first released, and I keep going back to it all the time, mostly for vocals. For some voices, it just has that certain something that is difficult to achieve otherwise.
I went through a period where I was using other compressors more often for vocals, but then I would have those "problem child" vocals where no matter what I did, they just didn't sound "right". I'd swap in the RE-2A and go, "Ah, there it is."
So instead of fighting it, I went back to the RE-2A as my first choice vocal compressor. Makes life a lot easier.
With the RE-2A and a little bit of Selig Leveler in the vocal chain, I'm good.
