If you could only use 5 REs (for all eternity), which ones would you choose?

You can still use every stock device included in Reason, whatever version you have.

This can be a trick question because it would be silly to choose eternal RE's that have VST counterparts or better.

VK-2/Parsec 2/PX7/PSQ/ColoringEQ

Do you feel VK-2/Parsec 2/PX7/PSQ/ColoringEQ have VST counterparts that do their job better.
Do you mind sharing?

No. That's my point and why I wouldn't pick something like RE-2A or the Kuassa MP5. I think the RE environment is more about production value than mixing. I recently got the ACME Opticom XLA-3 for $29 from Plugin Alliance and I think it will replace my RE-2A usage anyways. :)

Ah, ok. Sorry, I misunderstood.
Saw PX-7 in there and thought you felt something along the lines of FM-8 was better. So I was curious what you felt was better than the others in VST land. Thanks for explaining. :)

I'll take PX7 over FM8 but that's just me.

This is not easy, but at the moment I think it would be:
Antidote
Legend
PX7
Basimilus Iteritas
Deep Reverb
:reason: 12, Win10

I guess I'm a simple guy with a preference for bells.

That is a good one. Basimilus would be my sixth RE although I was getting some crazy sounds from Loquelic Iteritas Percido the other night. I need to spend more time with these RE's. I wanted to try Bundle 2 but I'm still on 9.5.

Currently these are the ones that are always on my projects:

Selig Leveler
Selig DeEsser - Because all my vocal chains are made of these
Vecto - The best synth for new age, meditative stuff
Kuassa MP5 - Oh so beautiful eq before the rest of my mastering chain! ( i know i have one of these on Ozone 8 but i got used to this one - most times mastering is already half done when audio arrives to Ozone 8!)
McDsp C670 - I use this one for some stuff, but it's lovely on stereo busses, and usually sits between MP5 and Ozone 8

If i had a couple more slots, i'd maybe throw Revival and PArsec or Predator (not counting with Reason devices that are Re's but come with it - Grain, Europa, etc).

Interesting, you're a guitar player and use A-List Power and Nylon (i mean, i use them a lot but i don't play guitar)... Heck i still use Virtual Guitarist after almost 15 years! LOL

Care to comment? ;)

Too hard, but I'd get some mileage out of this package:

Synapse Deep Reverb
EchoBode
Rob Papen EQ
Blamsoft VK-2
One more synth, possibly Predator or something else with loads of effects you can route audio into

No comp in there, oh well I guess the stock ones will have to do

Same here! Except for Parsec, I'd pick The Legend or maybe VK-2 (which I don't own, so I'm undecided). Stock Reason offers enough of nice high frequency bling bling synths, but nothing beats the juicy sound of The Legend.

Those REs open a whole new world of music to Reason, which is why I'd choose them.
:reason: Most recent track: resentment (synthwave) || Others: on my YouTube channel •ᴗ•

I find Reason excels best at putting together demo songs quickly, the A-List are perfect for that! I can then go on to polish the track to be the finished thing without having to leave Reason.

Swap AT-1 for MP-5 EQ and RE-2A comp for Vecto synth, and that's my list

I'm surprised by my own list, but I don't think I could live without

RE-2A
C670
Neutron
BZR-1
PSQ-1684

I probably should not have included those compressors, because of all the VSTs out there. The smart thing would probably be to go for 5 sequencers. Well, I love these Res, because I use them all the time...

ReQ131? Interesting. Haven’t looked at that in a long, long time.

These are 5 of the "bread and butter" REs I use in pretty much every production.

Selig - Coloring EQ
Synapse - The Legend
Blamsoft - eXpanse
Kuassa - Kratos Maximizer
Cakewalk - RE-2A

I'll take a different approach, because depending on what I'm working with, the tools are still the same to some degree. some are better than others, but if you understand how to use the tools, and learn how to listen... compare your tracks with others you admire in your genre...regardless of the DAW....you should get results you're happy with.

1 - EQ
2 - Compression
3 - Limiting
4 - Panning
5 - Automation/Level and Balance
