Seems to have replaced subscriptions in the drop down menu. But if you click on rent to own the option to add to a subscription is still there.

This is great news. Thanks Propellerhead. Taking a leaf out of Steve Duda's book think he was the first to do this with Serum.

I was only thinking about this very thing a couple of days ago. I want Parsec, now I can rent to own. The only grumble I have is they should have different pricing options, not just $9.99 per month (which would be cheaper in English pounds anyway) for cheaper Re's. Like say, if you wanted a €19.99 Re, it'd be more or less 2 months payments or 2 months then a bit extra the 3rd month. If the Re is cheaper though, it should be less a month so you can spread it out more so the €19.99 Re could be 3 months at €6.66 a month or 4 months at €4.99 a month.

Honestly, this is what I have been waiting for from PH in regards to their shop. I am tired of waiting to for sales, so if they can get some third party REs behind this, I will be the first on board (I don't actually want/need anything currently available).

So I already subscribe to most of these... They're on my sub but I don't see them in Rent To Own. Hmmmm

Subscriptions and rent to own are separate things, it seems. This new update to the shop made it a little cumbersome to find my subscription as it is no longer listed under my account or somewhere prominent on the store page, but I guess that may change in the future. That said, I think rent-to-own is a great addition to the shop.

All this positivity! Where's all the "they're getting rid of subscriptions because they were a huge failure now they're pulling this desperation move and soon they will be bankrupt" conspiracy theories? :) On a serious note, I don't have a lot of cash, and I'd rather not pay Props extra on top of the existing price just for the (admitted) advantage of having it sooner. I can wait. Rather pay MYSELF the interest in the meantime. But if it works for others, that's good too! S'all good, man.

There's no interest charge in Rent-to-Own. A 99.99 Rack Extension takes 10 months to buy. The equation is just COST/9.99 = MONTHS. No interest involved.

That's pretty cool.

But it seems you'll always have to pay full price when renting, even if it goes on sale. If that's the case then it might be better to just wait for a sale.

In Canadian dollars, it's $12.99 times 10 = $129.90 for a $125 item, so certainly less interest than I thought at first glance, but not zero.

Well this kind of method to buy REs is another option, that suites people who want to OWN in the end and there is no interest it seems. I could buy three RE's (valued 300€) already now, and pay 30€ a month, and not pay anything anymore after 10 months.

The last month would actually just be the balance remaining, so 8.09 on the final month.

Not saying it's right, but it's not unique to Reason. I can't trade iOS or Google Play apps. Or Steam games. Or Xbox Live Store games. I'd love to be able to! But it doesn't seem to be the norm right now.

I really, really hope they don't get rid of subscriptions. Having 3k worth of gear is amazing and I have no problem paying 30$ a month for that. :essentials: :essentials: :essentials: :re: :re: :re:

Edit: I went ahead and removed Umpf from my subscription and started the rent to own. Sure, I'm spending 39$ a month but... I have so much stuff! I wanna swim like scrooge mcduck in my RE's.
