Selig Leveler vs Saturation?

For my song that I just finished, I used the Leveler to help tame my drum transients. It did a pretty good job doing this task, when I usually use a saturation plugin like the Pulverizer or the Saturation knob. What do you guys use to tame those peaks? Have you tried the Leveler?
