It's easy to get excited about new fun stuff. A purchases here and there doesn't seem like much at first but when you actually start looking into it it really adds up.
Log in to your account, check "My orders" history. Don't just guess. How much exactly have you spent on REs, refills and Reason upgrades the last 365 days? It's usually more than one like to think.
If you feel like counting VST purchases also you can, but please put it in a seperate category.
Me:
REs: €366
Reason upgrades: €258
Refills: €15
Total cost: €639. Ouch.

RE: $664
No refills or upgrades.
I don't really see this as very much, considering mix and mastering bundle and getting mostly everything on sales. I feel like I got a lot for my money

REs: $656
Upgrade: $129
Total: $785
I didn't have much before so this is all filling out most of the essentials including the mixing and mastering bundle and a lot of the CV and sequencing tools that I use. I've spent more than twice as much on modular gear and other equipment in the same amount of time.

REs: $306
Refills: $9
Not too bad. I thought it was more. However, If the wife knew..... then there would be trouble. She'd rather I spent that money on her somehow.

Last 365 days:
RE: $330
Refill: $33

Here's the interesting part, during the PREVIOUS 365 days:
RE: $846
VST: $0
Draw your own conclusions.

Probably best I don't check! Bought a few for sure. The Noise Engineering bundle, Torsion, Nostromo (on sale), RND. That's just the recent purchases. It's going to be around the $300 I'd guess. RE's are dead? Not on my bank account they're not!

Too much....... I'll leave it at that
RE: $508
Refill: Hard to compute since I didn't buy any through the Prop Shop in the past 365 days. Bought them directly off the sound designers websites.
Upgrades: $0
All purchases were during sales so I made out really well. This all puts time and money into perspective. Going to do my best to cut back on purchases and focus on completing more music. No sense in adding to the pile of hammers if I'm not going to fully utilize them.

I don't but REs much anymore because you can't sell them (about 2/3 of my RE would be sold if I could.) At this point I only go for utility/cv stuff because it's RE exclusive.
$110 on REs (much less than past years)
Probably $100 or so on refills, most expensive was the Bitley R2X (I have every Bitley refill except WBS he is the king)

REs: €678
R10 upgrade: €100
Total: €778
In 2018 though i've only spent €79, but in 2017 we had stuff like Vk2 coming out (possibly the sexiest analog synth in the store) and Tube Tech went on sale so that had to be done! eXpanse also bringing the total up quite a bit, needed to buy it to finish a song I started in the trial. This being before subscriptions were available. The total though is rather eye opening, thought i'd be safely below the €500 threshold!

My spending has as much to do with bad circumstances as any other factor. I have spent over £1k in some years but in the last 365:
€55 all on discounted RE
I have to say VSTs have opened my eyes some what. There are some incredible free or very inexpensive ones out there especially when on sale.

I'm a new Reason user (since Oct '17) and since then I've spent 780EUR on REs... I wasn't expecting it's this much

140 Euros, of which I reckon I might come to regret 18. What are your probable regret totals?
...however, in the last year I also bought 2 VSTs: u-he Repro and TAL Sampler, which together come to £134. (incidentally probably my two favourite plugin purchases - definitely no regrets there!)
So about £258 all together in the last year. Ouch. It could be worse.

2018:
frame 9 bucks ( love it)
st-1 25 bucks (detest the sound, thought it would be good to use for generative combinator I was working on)
2018 total:
34 bucks
In comparison to 2017:
2 upgrades in 1 year:
r9 129
r10 100
bit crush 9 bucks (steal)
vk2 29 bucks (absolute best deal ever)
front 8 graph cv router 15 bucks ( looks really cool and you can modulate location of cv destinations)
OB upgrade 19 bucks
proton 55 (I prefer the gui/workflow of grain)
2017 total:
356 bucks

REs: 9 bucks a month for the last 4 months and at least twice now I could not login to validate subscriptions and had to retry at least once so I think they owe me a couple bucks. :+)
And that is my only complaint. Except I am having trouble sampling. But I'll bring that up on another thread if I can't get it straight.

332 € on RackExtensions during the last 365 days.
129 € on Upgrades.
More than I thought.
Less than the previous years.
I don't regret spending that money.
