I actually think it made it more fun - but even so, all the clues are there (I worried he made it TOO easy at first, until I saw the responses). He even said "and include Cutoff freq and resonance", which it seems everyone ignored at first…Then he gave the final clue, which had to do with two classic Reason synths including this effect (Malstrom and Thor).

Anyway, his contest, his rules, and I think this is a great way to promote new devices. You don't want this sort of contest to be TOO easy, after all. And it DID get us all talking, after all.
