If you can plan and even build a building, why on earth would you need to make your own bricks and cement for it?
I refuse to accept anyone dissing Rack Extensions that make use of (for simplification's sake) "bricks".
Creativity and ideas come first. Coming up with something unique and interesting, then planning it, is not only a lot of hard work, but also the most important step when creating anything.
Creating, itself, is yet another important step. If somebody lacks the knowledge, and/or can't hire a programmer, that's not a reason to deny them to turn an awesome idea into reality.
Besides, why not trust perfectly stable, professionally created tools? No need to reinvent the wheel. If one thinks they can do better, and don't trust it, sure, go for it and code your own. I understand, there are specific benefits.
I'm rather happy to see a revolutionary device, than an all new, fresh, vibrant, modern... delay, or reverb. Yay.
Even if a developer gets stuck, they still can team up with a programmer!
Please, don't keep those ideas to yourselves, don't throw them out. Creativity is key. A genius, yet uncreative programmer won't get far without a creative person who's full of ideas - dare I say inventor. But it's certainly made possible for you to get started!
All in all, huge thank you for the people that make things like these possible.
...and the opinion of vocal minority matters nothing! Not even wasting text room!
IDT is very much awesome and worth it!

Agreed, and we still want to have something like this:
or this (with all the details)
Sometimes in Reason even something like this here:
IDTs can be good. And if it keeps the juice flowing. Who cares, what you are using anyway?

IDT or not. Who cares? Is it useful? Do I like working with it? That's all I care about.
IDT means something quite different as of the newest SDK release, which coincidentally improves SDK 2.5 as well as SDK 3.0 IDT options.
I think I'm allowed to say as much, anyway.
What I can definitely say is this: If you have ever thought about making a plugin but are still working on your (perhaps nonexistent) programming chops, IDT might just make that plugin a reality sooner than you might think. It's worth signing the NDA to get a look at, in my opinion.
