We're happy to announce that our CoreReLation Phase Analyser (CORE) Rack Extension is now available in the Propellerhead Software shop for $/€ 19.00.

https://shop.propellerheads.se/rack-ext ... -analyser/

Reasonistas’ CoreReLation Phase Analyzer (aka CORE), is the first Reason rack extension designed and optimized for detailed phase and stereo imaging analyzation. We partnered once again with Lab:One Recordings to meticulously design and build CORE. With its unique user interface and iconic big knobs, CORE provides intuitively designed tools and visual mixing aids, essential for detecting and treating phasing and stereo imaging issues to ensure a proper mix balance.

One nice feature I saw on Facebook - when paired with SCRE's multiband splitter, the gonio-meter in each Core takes the color of the respective frequency band :)

Yes, SideChain ReAction (SCRE) and CoreReLation (CORE) visual aids allow us to apply a tight monophonic low-end and an extra-wide beautiful sounding top-end to any single sound source in Reason. Video tutorial script in progress.

Hello Noel,

in those video tutorial could you also provide some explanations of how read the gionometer and how to spot the phasing issues ? i've searched for some videos about it but couldn't found any..

Yes, I’m working on a series of CORE tutorials explaining how to use the correlation meter and goniometer in detail. For now we’ve provided details about both in the CORE operation manual:

Thanks for your interest and support.

This is perfect for users trying to find a RE replacement for Waves S1 Imager. It's a very useful tool.

Thanks for building it. :)

Very nice thanks ! Meanwhile i'm going to read the pdf.

ps: Just read the pdf, very informative. I also searched on google with "Vectorscope" instead of goniometer and finally found lots of informative videos as well. Still waiting for your tutorials :)

I'm very intrigued by any kind of visualization tool. It's just fun and interesting to SEE sound in different ways, but I think very informative also

There is a VST I've wanted for a while called Little Labs IBP Phase Alignment Tool. Does this in any way compare to that product. Can I use the CoreReLation Analyser to help when stacking layers of drums and dealing with phase issues in the low end?

Not really, although in a very indirect way you can - by reducing "width" to 0 you get a mono signal, which lets you hear if there are phasing issues, that will manifest in sound getting quieter, muffled, etc.

I'm not aware of any RE dedicated to this, but I heard good things about this VST from Waves (https://www.waves.com/plugins/inphase#image).

Also, you might want to use an oscilloscope to visually compare the waveforms:

Thank you for your inquiry. CORE's correlation meter detects phasing issues of the incoming signal, which can be treated by using either the left or right invert phase toggle switches, or by narrowing the stereo spread using the big stereo width knob.

Example 1: Left and right channels in phase.

Example 2: Left and right channels out of phase.

To check if layered sounds have phasing issues, refer to pages 11 and 12 on the CORE Operation Manual where we explain how to use a single instance of CORE to visually analyze the phase and stereo image of individual mix/sub-group channels or the master bus channel.

Thanks for the recommendation. I do already have the Skope monitors which I do enjoy.

Very interesting device. I like this from the manual: "A well correlated stereo mix will be an ovular shape (tall and narrow) and centered on the vertical M axis."

Does this mean you can see problems you can't hear, but will manifest in some way in different listening conditions?

In my opinions if you have the right environment and tools to work with at the end the best judge remains your ears. For phase scenario and mono compatibility issues having a grotbox will make your life in studio way more easier than before.

Yes, CORE's Goniometer provides a visual representation of the "stereoness" of a sound source. The image displays how much mono (vertical M axis) and stereo (horizontal S axis) information is present in your mix to help identify possible phasing (cancellation) issues. If certain sound get quieter or vanish when you sum a stereo mix into mono (turn width knob all the way left), then you know you have phase problems. This can be problematic in certain listening environments where the stereo field is not ideal or when the song is played in mono (i.e. stores, clubs, some blue tooth speakers, etc). In fact, play a few modern radio songs through CORE and you'll see how little stereo information is present in well balanced and mixed songs.

Yes, the right environment, speakers and well trained ears are important; however, ears can deceive even in optimal conditions, so Correlation meters and Goniometers are there to ensure you don't over do it on the stereo width or miss any phasing issues.

I'm considering getting this.. so to work with the SCRE
I already have SCRE. I wondered does CORE come with any patches? to work with SCRE? or would I have to set things up manually.

In the Instagram post picture.. a Malstrom seems to automate some parameters whilst the CORE and SCRE work together.

I'd love some patches to just drop so they're both going together as an effect so to say on a giving instrument or sound. I will trial it tonight, but just wanted your views as well.

Thanks. I think you’re referring to this post, also on Twitter. It’s actually SCRE that is sending CV to itself and CORE vía all 4 envelopes, while CORE’s Goniometer reads Malstrom’s Oscillator A resulting in the ring shapes. We’re working on additional video tutorials to further explain how to read the phase meter and goniometer.

CORE doesn’t include patches, but we agree combined SCRE and CORE sample patches would showcase and inspire additional creative possibilities. We will work on developing several patches and will make them available via our website until we update CORE. Stay tuned and thanks again.

Yes that was the video..cool.
Please let me know when you get those patches on the website.
I'm no CV expert, actually quite suck so patches come in handy for a guy like me.

Cheers on the device.

Thanks, James. The patches should be ready by early next week. In the meantime, here is the official CORE Combinator backdrop which is available here and on our website page for CORE: https://www.reasonistas.com/core-relation

I have to say, I am loving CORE! It's superb and a much-needed addition to the rack. Needs to be included in the Mix and Mastering Rig. For those that love SideChain Reaction this is built just as rock solid! You did it again Noel!

Thanks for the support and great feedback Dusti! SCRE and CORE would not be possible without Lab:One Recordings' superb coding skills. We'll be back with free patches soon.

Good advice. Just this year, I got one Avantone cube. I also have some $10 JVC 'grotbox' headphones that I find helpful (because they are so unforgiving).

All very illuminating information. Thank you. I'm making a mental note on that last statement about how little stereo info there is in well mixed songs. Cool stuff.
