Has VST support slowed down RE development?

I have not used Reason that much lately and I have not visited ReasonTalk either. Thinking about dive into Reason again.
Now, when more than half a year has passed since VST support was introduced, for those of you who monitor the RE market, has RE development declined? (I think VST support is great, but I rather have the same functionality in well thought out REs)

I feel that if anything, it has encouraged developers to be a little more innovative(even more so the ones that already were doing great stuff).

I got into REs last summer. Propshop and this forum is now part of my daily web and coffee routine. I have not really looked into this, but my impression is that at least 1 or 2 REs are released every week. For a niche thing like Reason, I find that to be pretty solid.
Can't say how it was before they introduced VST, though. If only there was a list with RE release dates...

Since i own a note a few VSTs I monitor a few devs and does not seem to release new stuff every week, maybe except Waves
But what do you miss? I own a lot of RE and iam pretty settled. I just wait for something really new... Innovative...

There are many high end VSTs that don't have any counterparts in the RE domain. I can (and will) of course use the VSTs that I need, but I still prefer REs (integration, workflow, looks) when available.

Sure, same here... I bought the Soundtoys stuff and damn! They would fit so nice into the Reason rack.

There are some awesome RE and also VST, and I'm not planing on changing to use only 1 of them.

I prefer REs, however I'm not happy with the direction Props are going and have halted any more purchases from Props. Occasionally I can't help myself, and it ultimately helps the RE devs, however Props themselves aren't doing much to help the RE devs.

RE development definitely seems to have slowed down. But I have no problem with that if it means more quality and less junk

How was things before? In the last 6 months there has been new releases and updates all the time. I don't really know what to expect as I recently got into RE's.

Same here. I still like Reason's proprietary environment. Having stuff only available in Reason is more of a motivator if you have other DAWs. I don't know if it slowed down the development but I think pricing will be more competitive.

SDK development has never been "fast". As far as rate of REs being released, it's about the same as before. There are periods where quite a few come out and periods where nothing comes out. VST support has probably however halted ports of most VSTs.

There was a time when we were getting bombarded with CV devices. At a rate of at least a couple every week. Now it’s died down.
Personally I’d like to see more IDT Rompler devices of a quality similar to the best Kontakt libraries from the likes of Spitfire.

Hum...3 new RE and a few updates just within 2 weeks. I would say, everything is more than ok with RE. Oh, and one more will come within the next days and another one hopefully in the next weeks...

Not the latest. And the new synth that is coming is probably not an IDT.

What about these? All since 10 days ago
PolyIvoks Filter - Jan 16
kHs 3-Band EQ - Jan 22
RE-160 - Jan 25
Luna - Jan 26
And I still wouldn't give the IDT instruments a frowny face myself. I do really like the Studio Corbach and Skrock stuff. Amazing tracks currently in the Skrock Pulse PWM Synth competition. Sure they lack some CV connectivity, but they are still really great instruments.

And we know Selig's ColoringEQ is due anytime now.
And Mathieu Demange's RX950 is just around the corner (and an update to RYM2612).

I think will try to compile a list of RE release dates so that we can get some insights into this. It is a daunting task, so I'll just do synths. At least for now.

I don't think they are bad at all. Just not for me.
ColoringEQ is right up my alley!

Turns out, the release dates on the propshop are not to be trusted. For example, Antidote and Radical Piano are listed as 2017 releases. In any case, 2017 had the most RE instrument releases so far. Granted, many of those listings are older REs being updated, but that means the Devs are still active. The list is too long to post, but I'll post 2017:
Combo Electric Harpsichord
Mixfood AmbiNature
Nautilus
Radical Piano
Kraft
Mixfood Orange
Aquios X4 Workstation ROM
Argonaut
Attention
DyingStar
ReStrings
Zero
Mixfood ReMix
Distributor
ABL3
Legend
Oberon
Predator
Fingerpicking Nylon A-List Git.
Mixfood WT4
Antidote
Rumble
Proton
Tectonic
VK-2
Layers
Arkana
Re-Tron
Chamber Tron
Trust Cypher
Rostromo
Nostromo
Ivy
JPS Harmonic Synthesizer
Lithium
Nautilus 2
Expanse
Konarie Chirp
Resonans
Melodic Electric Glockenspiel
Step
Total RE instruments I could find was 138, excluding bundles.
