Also the question seems to imply that single band compressors somehow don't work on the whole frequency spectrum which isn't true.

I guess it depends on what results you are after. If it's a sidechain type effect, that can be achieved with things like:

kHs Trance Gate
https://shop.propellerheads.se/rack-ext ... ance-gate/

Pump
https://shop.propellerheads.se/rack-extension/pump/

SideChain ReAction Enveloper
https://shop.propellerheads.se/rack-ext ... enveloper/

I know those are all REs, but they are the ones I know about. And sorry if that's not what you are looking for.

The compressors built into Reason are sufficient. If you don't know exactly what you want in another compressor then you don't need one.

Depends... do you use Reason exclusively or do you also use another DAW ? I bought Kuassa Kratos & EVE MP-5 VST versions this black friday, because I usually use Reason rewired and do mastering in Ableton... And I know I can get a voucher when I decide to buy the RE.

Time is short to test them out, but if you have all day... try em both, see what you like better ? I don't have either of them so I can't offer any other advice.

Hey I provided a suggestion in your other thread, which would be more suited for this thread in the RE forum:

viewtopic.php?p=366765#p366765

Depends on what you are looking to achieve...

As others have said there are lots of variables to consider but one i take into consideration now is that you can re-sell a lot of vsts. I see quite a few going for up to 70% of the original price over on kvr. I guess in lot of cases the seller gets less than that because they often offer to cover the transfer fees.

Even so, investing significant amounts into REs seems a bit daft to me when the vst is likely to have some residual value.

I much prefer REs and for inexpensive ones will stick to REs but not for any pricey ones.

Just spent several hours DLing and upgrading my Soundtoys free plugs, and DLing the new lisense manager app, getting everything on my ancient iLok, getting everyone to talk to everyone else...
god bless the RE format.
