Are you planning to upgrade to Reason 10? Because judging from what I've seen in the Grain livestream, I'm sure you can easily mimic record scratching - in real time - with a little bit of fiddling on the mod matrix.
Win 10 | Ableton Live 11 Suite | Reason 12 | i7 3770k @ 3.5 Ghz | 16 GB RAM | RME Babyface Pro | Akai MPC Live 2 & Akai Force | Roland System 8, MX1, TB3 | Dreadbox Typhon | Korg Minilogue XD
Here are two free 32 bit VST plugins (you will need ad 32 to 64 bit bridge to run them)

I know, man! I've been saying this for ages!
Sample-loading or buffer RE with some kind of mod-wheel playhead scrubbing interface. Done. Must be such a simple thing to make, and it would sell all day long. I don't get it.
Edit: But how to intelligently map the mod-wheel or the pitch-wheel to an imaginary turntable? Maybe something like this:
You hold down a note (any note) on the keyboard or drum-pads, dealer's choice. As long as the note's held down, the wheel is in control. When you move it, the playhead moves. Backwards, forwards, it stays with the wheel.
When you stop moving the wheel, the playhead stops.
When you release the note, the playhead resumes normal speed playback (after a user-adjustable ramp from whatever state the mod-wheel had playback in at the moment the note was released). This is equivalent to taking your hand off the record and the turntable motor re-engaging through the slip-mat.
The wheel responds intelligently to velocity, so that if you release the held note during a sharp movement of the wheel, the playhead will be "thrown" in that direction, and the turntable motor will take longer to overcome the inertia of the vinyl (standard/heavy 180g/dubplate selectable, of course. This switch would be labelled "Disc SELECTA" with selecta in capitals.)
With a bit of a practice it should be possible to combine these two controls into pretty realistic scratchin'. Not sure if the pitch wheel (sprung) or the mod wheel (unsprung) would be more useful, you'd have to try both and see.
I'm pretty certain it's that simple. One problem could be there's not much latitude and resolution in 128 midi notes from which to compute movement (compromise between laggy and inaccurate) but it's gotta be worth a go, right?
Come on, lovely devs. Someone have a go.

But ... a turntable is a turntable and vinyl is vinyl ... both is not that expensive.

How no DJ RE or VST full stop. Same calibre as traktor or VDJ.
It is not too much of an ask for people or things to be the best version of itself!
This too! I remember ages ago thinking "I bet there's loads of amazing scratch plugins with amazing modern interfaces out there in VST land that we can't use in Reason" and I got on Google to look at them all so I could be jealous and informed, but there just aren't really any. It's super weird.
Probably because any attempt at scratching without actual or virtual turntables is effectively a sampler and modulation.

M-Audio had software for ProTools out at one stage Torq I think it was called. It was an RTAS plug-in. Something like that has not got much competition if it was a RE or VST! Sent a request to props around version 7 for a DJ RE. There is a DJ mixer as RE but nothing that can play and manipulate tracks in real time. I would blow the dust off the 1200's and buy serato scratch for the sole purpose of using DJ software in reason (may just do that anyway). Never had the patience for scratching but was decent enough when using a crossfader was not an issue. Using a button crossfader, too easy!

The whole point of the challenge is to showcase Reason 10. The video is just scratching which there is no proof if it is coming from grain or the audio from reason for that matter.

Propellerhead tweeted this video with the comment "To those who have wondered: can Grain do turntable scratching? Check this out!", so I think it's safe to say that there's no foul play.AttenuationHz wrote: ↑24 Oct 2017The whole point of the challenge is to showcase Reason 10.
