Grid64n by retouchcontrol is amazing
I was so surprised to see there is no discussion about this one.
I bought it after half an hour of playing around. It's really great.
I have PSQ, note recorder, propulsion, korde, even as-16 and of course the matrix and this one just combined the most useful parts of some of them and it did that very good.
I've had so much fun with it and I think it's capable of a lot.
I've had one little error and the device was disabled, so I guess it's a bug of some sort.
The only thing I would suggest is some kind of shuffle or groove to it. I'm not really sure why is this not implemented more into step sequencers, because it's all about the groove and if there is none to apply, it always sound a bit "robotic".
Is there a reason why this is always forgotten?
I tried the Stix vst drum machine and it has a sequencer that is made perfectly. You can shift in time every single step a bit. before or after the grid. Now that's groovy.
Never the less, Grid64n is really good.

Here's what i did with it:
Start with a 4 note sequence.
Copy it to the next slot, change it with the chord fuction, repeat until all 16 are filled. Now you have a kind of chord sequence, its pretty cool.
I did the beats with Grid64g (going to Softube Heartbeat) to go with it.
I'm going to see how far i can push this

Is this a one note per step device? Just tried it shortly but i think you cant use it to program drum patterns, right? Was expecting kindof an ableton Push like Sequencer, where you select the channel in the grid on the bottom left and the length of the pattern in the grid to the right.
Not sure if i like the scenes instead which are different patterns that switch instantly - quantized or even chained would be more useful. What i like though is that they succeeded in adding patterns and still make it all remotable which others didnt succeed in. Most other sequencers that implemented more than one pattern dont have the actual stepsequencer remotable (lectric Panda, the one in ABL3 and the 909 type one).
It also has probability which is an awesome feature but i wish it also had the other step modes that can be found eg on the Digitakt where you can say eg "play once every X loops" which adds variety but is more predictable.
For people with launchpads and no knowledge of Remote this is still a nice RE. Hope they expand on the idea and add more features (you can never have enough in sequencers

Hm, it seems to me that their Grid64g would be a better choice for you. This is Grid64n and it's more useful for melodies and bass seq's. I didn't find grid64g as useful.electrofux wrote: ↑07 Oct 2017Is this a one note per step device? Just tried it shortly but i think you cant use it to program drum patterns, right? @electrofux : It looks like to me Grid64g is effectively what you're looking for; it is drum dedicated. This one is for mono melodies sequencing...
And I find it quite fun!
For people who don't have a Novation launchpad but an iPad (or iPhone) at hand, don't miss the excellent free app from Alexander Nowak "Launch Buttons - Live Control" (https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/launch- ... 90167?mt=8) which enables you to control Grid64n as well as Grid64g from a Touch way... It is quite good. You just need files on Retouch control website's (http://retouchcontrol.com/grid64n/) and select "RetouchControl LP_MK1_Grid64n" (and "..._Grid64g" for other device) as control surface, and you are wirelessly connected to it in Reason...
Don't forget pushing 'save' in the device while using it this way.

has anyone managed to write a custom remote/codec for a 16 pad controller using 4 paged groups? Say like the NI Kontrol F1. I've been looking at the example remote/codecs but don't own a push, Launchpad or machine. Unfortunately can't use the ipad app either.

Can't be worse that what I did today: for a boring reason (no pun intended) I had to create partition on a external disk in command line. It looks like I mistaken MB and GB, so I was trying since hours to put a big backup on a too small partition, thinking of a disk trouble, or filesystem error(s)... Those numbers can be so crazy in command line these days (but ok, it seems I try to find excuses ). A friend of mine said he was hoping my job wasn't to dimension bombs.
I thought I had all my sequencer needs covered since PSQ-1684 came along, but this thread made me check Grid64n out
It really is great, has a few tricks up its sleeve that the others don't. $20 well spent

This is my first post but I’d like to say that the person who makes this has the best customer support I’ve ever had. I had a problem with their PusheR2 program and High Sierra and they were on top of it. They had be back up and running in only a few days. Highly recommend all their stuff
Thank you RetouchControl for this great RE!
I now have my Launchpad Mk2 up and running with Grid64g hooked up to Kong loaded with my raw Roland 808 and 505-TR samples This is like Christmas
EDIT: just realized this thread is about Grid64n But anyway...
