I can't really seem to tell the difference in the default settings. Maybe it defaults to all low cpu settings?

Seems like all the patches have been switched to low CPU settings as well, but maybe they were that way in the first place. I never really went through them until now ( looking for the 70 new patches by eXode to check out)

Edit: Oh there is a "HQ" folder now, rather than a "Low CPU" folder. ;)

Pretty slick move with the HQ folder and I'm looking forward to checking out those patches after work this morning. :)

Yea. The sound difference would be hardly noticeable to many users, so it made sense to do it that way around. Really makes a huge impression on the CPU usage.

No shame in producing at "default mode" and then turning things up at the end.

Like some of you have noticed already, we decided to change the default startup mode to the lowest settings, and set the poly mode to mono. We also decided to make the low cpu soundbank standard and instead make the other "HQ" instead.

For reference, I've made a list of the new patches included in this VK-2 update.

Oh yeah the list helps - didn't think about that!

Some great patches here thanks. I usually don't open the DAW on work days but this is an exception.

I bought Viking 2 when it came out and then never used it. But this update inspired me! Hey Exode! :)

So I made a thing! It's all Viking 2 except the drums which are Battery 4 (VST).

Vk2 is a great synthesizer and being a Serum fan boy (Serum is life!) I underestimated it. Viking 2 sounds great. Judge for yourself:

I haven't really used Serum since I got my hands on VK-2 and eXpanse! Viking-2 is great for those retro style synths, like in your track there. I tend to use try to make the opposite of retro sounds with it . Not like rhythmic bleeps and bloops, but gnarly FM basses and what not. It's super powerful. Some of the best sounding FM I've ever heard.(its a shame none of the presets showcase this ability)

Nice vibe on that song by the way :)

I had a half hour to dink around with some of the new presets. Some real gems in there. Nice work eXode. This might give me the kick I needed to jump on the retro bandwagon before it's too late.

This is my favorite synth to use. Plenty of it used on my upcoming stuff.

That is seriously a steal...You get 650 Patches and a great synth, a bunch of external useable FX, filter and amp.

Started goofing with this last-night. Even in its new default, low-CPU-intensive state, it seems to be taking up a lot more of my computer resources than other units I use all the time. That said, I like my early impressions quite a bit. I don't have much interest in the modular aspect, but as a straight-ahead synth, I'm enjoying it.

The way vk2s fm works is kind of over my head

Osc 1- saw

Osc 2- sine

Osc 3- triangle

How is it that the linear FM can be
Linear FM
Osc 1- square

:P

Is it something a long the lines of that's just how modular setups work? Are all oscillators active at all times and that's why you can route FM from "in active" oscillator shapes. Like in my mini example none of my 3 oscillators are square, but some how I can get FM from the square? Lol it's mind blowing to myself
