Introducing Resonans

We are excited to report that in the form of Resonans by Robotic Bean a new type of synthesis is arrived to Propellerhead Reason! In addition, we are happy to announce that we have partnered with Robotic Bean for a Resonans song challenge. Further information will be posted soon.

Resonans has an exciter called Impulse and two plus one resonators labelled as Model, see the image. The two resonators are the Modal Resonator and the Inharmonic String, while the extra resonator is actually a bypass mode letting through the exciter signal untouched. To help strengthen the fundamental frequency of the sound and give it more bottom end Resonans has a built-in sub oscillator.
  • 2 physical models: Modal Resonator and Inharmonic String
    Noise generator and sampler
Live audio input with transient detector
Multimode state variable filter with Lowpass, Bandpass and Highpass modes
    Sub oscillator
    3 envelope generators
    LFO and Vibrato
2 key switches and a velocity switch, with MIDI Learn
Trigger inputs for the key switches
Modulation matrix with nested menus and drag & drop
4 assignable modulation CV inputs and outputs
Reverb and delay with tilt EQ
    Stereo FX audio input
    Full Remote and automation support
Over 200 patches by renowned sound designers

Interesting demos... Might be a tad unfortunate in regards to timing this release... Just before May Madness and at the same day Spire dropped at a super discounted $ 59... Anyway, here's the link to the shop: https://shop.propellerheads.se/product/ ... nthesizer/

Looks like a great synth, although not really suitable for the music I make. Some very good features there.

Yeah, we were sort of caught between a rock and a hard place. In the end, the best option was to release it now since there will be more visitors in the shop during May Madness, and afterwards there's Reason 9.5. Also, we don't really cover the same sonic territory as ReSpire, so I hope the shop is big enough for the both of us.

So cool, been waiting for something like this! I love Logic's Sculpture, its the only thing I miss since I started doing all my synth stuff in Reason.

I absolutely love this synth, it's definitely in my top 5. So something you have to try with this synth is running audio thru it. For me, that is where it really shines. It works well with a drumbeat routed thru it. Even you guys who dont think it fits your musical style should give it a try. It is capable of such a wide variety of sounds. Congrats to Robotic Bean on this release. I hope you guys sell a bunch of them.
Players are to MIDI what synthesizers are to waveforms.

Congratulations to the mind / minds behind this jewel of incomparable beauty.
I'm trying several factory sounds and I have to say that they are dynamic, crystalline, crispy, organic. They lives their own lives.
An incredible synth that finds its place in ambient / orchestral / chill out genres IMO.
Every sound is heavenly. I do not think Omnisphere 2 even knows how to excite me so.

Fantastic!

I don't know about that. Resonans is hitting new territory here. I'm waaay more excited about this than ReSpire. It really reminds me of Mutable Instruments Elements, which is awesome. ReSpire... yea, not even going to bother trying that.

Interesting synth...i think i need to try this, to get a feeling of the sound it produces - the concept looks promising. I am curious, if there can be other Resonators as well? I like to see the use of panel as kind of osc source, in this synth a resonator. I am not sure, if its more an fx device or a real synth...Gotta put the try button, as soon the challange starts... The intro price is only till end of may. This may(!) be a bit short for a challange and a buy if lose.

Thought something like this would never come. A tuned delay line and a resonator. Cant wait to try it out.

Well done RB! Just demo'ing this and it's really cool. Love some of the complex sounds you can get with it, and being able to load your own WAVs as impulses is super awesome. As a sound designer this is right up my street! Klangs, tinks, taps, ticks and tocks. Yeah buddy!

@Robotic Bean, What a BEAUTY !!!

I've been eyeing Rings from Mutable Instruments for about 2 years.. When i saw this it instantly sparked my curiosity!
And now that i'm playing with it it is more then i expected. Lively and organic, unexpected modulations, harmonically rich sound and also, great patches!

I'm pretty convinced you've been inspired by Mutable Instruments's Rings. What made you decide for these 2 models ?

Oh, I definitely hope that your synth gets all the attention it deserves! And I know that Resonans is quite different from Spire... A deeper discount for an admittedly unfinished port with a famed history just might distract some people from picking this up or recognizing how cool this is! Congrats and best of luck!

Some time ago I made a thread about the lack of a physical modelling synth rack extension. Super exited about this! Good job!

The Oliver Gillet code you're referring to – is it so that the resonator is based on Rings?

If this is anything close to Yamaha' VL1 then it's an instant buy for me. That was one great board which they used the same technology in the EX5 and the sounds were incredible in it too. Way to go, can't wait to try it out.

This is a real gem out of nowhere. I ran my favorite chord progression against it, tweaked some knobs, it´s easy to use and gives instant gratification. Really great for plucks and even cool pads when the envelope is activated for the impulse section.
Here´s short sequence I recorded:

Nice! Loved the video and demos, will have to give this a try in due course. Great to see a physical modelling synth RE in the rack :)
